Systemic Sclerosis‐Associated Myopathy

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2007
Abstract:  Skeletal muscle involvement is a common feature in systemic sclerosis (SSc) because muscle weakness is found in up to 90% SSc patients when systematically assessed. Muscle clinical, biological, and electromyographic features are similar to those of polymyositis or dermatomyositis, except for a higher proportion of mild symptoms.

Myopathies Associated With Systemic Diseases

Postgraduate Medicine, 1971
Most of the myopathies associated with systemic diseases respond to treatment of the associated disease or of the myopathy itself. Among the many diseases associated with myopathies are peripheral vascular or collagen- vascular disease, chronic alcoholism, the periodic paralyses, and endocrine disorders.

Neuropathy Associated with Systemic Amyloidosis

Seminars in Neurology, 2019
AbstractPeripheral neuropathy occurs in the setting of both hereditary and acquired amyloidosis. The most common form of hereditary amyloidosis is caused by 1 of 140 mutations in the transthyretin (TTR) gene, which can lead to neuropathic hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis (hATTR; previously referred to as transthyretin familial amyloid ...

Malignancies associated with systemic sclerosis

Autoimmunity Reviews, 2012
The outcome of systemic sclerosis (SSc) has become more favorable during the past years. Respiratory failure or renal crisis became less frequent, therefore more attention should be paid to long-term comorbidities, such as malignancies secondary to scleroderma. The incidence of malignant lymphoproliferative diseases, as well as that of solid tumors are

Associated integrable systems

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1991
New class of integrable Hamiltonian systems is obtained as systems directly defined over Jacobi varieties. This approach enables one to establish a link between associated discrete and continuous systems. In particular, regular procedure is found for the discretization of the integrable continuous systems.

Associated Systemic Diseases

2017
Scleritis may be associated with systemic autoimmune diseases or infection. It may occur after a systemic disease has been diagnosed, or it may be the presenting manifestation of an otherwise occult systemic disease. In patients with scleritis as a consequence of a systemic condition, the underlying disease is already known in about 80% of patients at ...

Opioid-Associated Nervous System Injuries

Seminars in Neurology
AbstractWith the rise of the opioid epidemic, the practicing neurologist must recognize the patterns of a growing number of opioid-associated neurological injuries. This is in addition to the classic toxidrome of miosis, altered mental status, and respiratory depression, which must never be overlooked, as it is reversible and potentially lifesaving ...
