Continued growth in chip capacity has led to new methodologies stressing reuse, not only of pre-designed processing components, but even of entire pre-designed architectures. To be used across a variety of applications, such architectures must be heavily parameterized, so they can adapt to those applications' differing constraints by trading off power,

The design of the Transis system
1995Transis is a high availability distributed system, being developed in the Hebrew University. It supports reliable group communication for high availability applications. The system provides enhanced services for information dissemination and replication in a dynamic environment where machines may crash, for arbitrarily long periods, and may recover ...

Ergonomics, 1967
The relationship between ergonomics and systems design is defined and its importance is stressed. The origins of systems ergonomics are described and it is suggested that the technology of ergonomics now depends primarily on the science of psychology with some importance still attached to anatomy but with physiology now of marginal relevance.

Proceedings of the 6th conference on Winter simulation, 1973
A major problem for a manager who used computer services is the problem of systems acquisition and design. He must decide which system to buy and how the system should be structured. This paper presents a computer game written in PL/I that enables a user to choose from among three basic computer systems with a wide variety of CPU, channel and ...

A hierarchy of information accessibility exists in every system. Even simple calculators employ a two-level hierarchy consisting of internal registers and external key-entered data. In a typical computer system we find a multilevel hierarchy extending from working registers through random-access main-memory, to direct access devices, to sequential ...

Proceedings of the SHARE design automation project on - DAC '65, 1965
This paper describes a technique for automatically designing and producing artwork for multi-layer laminates used in digital computer construction at Litton Industries. This technique consists of a number of computer programs which are a sub-system of a general design automation effort called IDAS (Integrated Design Automation System).
