Targeting the EpCAM‐AXL axis to overcome drug resistance in lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Lung cancer cells often evade therapy by hijacking signaling pathways. We reveal that cleaved EpCAM (sEpCAM) stabilizes the oncogenic protein AXL, driving NF‐κB and STAT3‐mediated chemoresistance. This EpCAM‐AXL axis identifies a high‐risk patient subset with poor prognosis.

Association of SII and AISI in patients with sepsis: A retrospective study

open access: yesMedicine Science
Sepsis, a life-threatening dysregulated immune response to infection, necessitates reliable biomarkers for early risk stratification and prognosis. Sepsis occurs when bacteria that cause an infection the body's overwhelming inflammatory reaction to ...

Characterization of therapeutic antibodies targeting lymphatic and vascular resistance factor for the treatment of hypervascularized and highly metastatic cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LVRF (lymphatic and vascular resistance factor) is a VEGFA splice variant upregulated in response to anti‐angiogenic therapy that fosters tumor adaptation through enhanced vascularization, lymphangiogenesis, and metastatic dissemination. Targeting LVRF with fully human neutralizing antibodies disrupts these processes and limits resistant tumor growth ...

Primary Care Approach to the Use of Inflammatory Indices in Hypertension: A Review [PDF]

open access: yesEurasian Journal of Family Medicine
Hypertension is increasingly recognized as a chronic low-grade inflammatory condition rather than solely a hemodynamic disorder. Hematologic indices such as neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, plateletto-lymphocyte ratio, systemic immune-inflammation index ...

Reprogramming tumor cells with LCOR mRNA nanotherapy to enhance immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LCOR (Ligand‐dependent corepressor) mRNA encapsulated in polymeric nanoparticles restores LCOR activity in tumor cells, constraining aggressive tumor cell states and increasing tumor immunogenicity. This reprogramming makes tumor cells more vulnerable to T‐cell attack and enhances their response to immune‐checkpoint immunotherapy.

Systemic Immune-Inflammatory Index and Other Inflammatory Marker Variations in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma Management. [PDF]

open access: yesMedicina (Kaunas)
Background and Objectives: With the greatest rate of morbidity and death, OSCC is one of the world’s most critical public health problems. Being a complex pathology, the management process that includes diagnostic, surgical, and adjuvant treatments must as well take into account the involvement of the immune system.

The impact of leukocyte‐associated RNA retention on platelet RNA‐based cancer detection

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Platelets carry RNA signals that may help detect cancer, but platelet samples can also retain RNA from white blood cells. We found that this retained white blood cell signal did not significantly affect machine learning cancer classification, suggesting that the cancer‐related RNA signal in platelets is largely independent of leukocyte‐associated RNA ...

Association between hematological inflammatory markers and latent TB infection: insights from NHANES 2011–2012 and transcriptomic data

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology
BackgroundLatent tuberculosis infection affects about one-quarter of the global population and can progress to active tuberculosis. Hematological inflammatory markers, such as the systemic immune-inflammation index, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio ...

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.
