Electrically Tunable Heliconical Smectic Superstructure in Polar Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Strong dipole–dipole interactions give rise to an emergent polar smectic phase with spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking. This resulting polar heliconical smectic superstructure enables novel functionalities in polar fluids, such as color modulation driven by electric field strength and frequency, as well as second‐harmonic generation amplification ...

Ultralow‐Dispersion Silicon THz Photonic Crystal Interconnects for Multichannel Datalinks

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐silicon terahertz photonic crystal waveguide interconnect enables 452 Gbps aggregate data transfer through seven complex‐modulated channels. By revealing the impact of ultralow dispersion on link performance and achieving a record interconnect figure of merit, the work advances centimeter‐scale THz on‐chip communication for future data‐centre ...

CVD Grown Hybrid MoSe2–WSe2 Lateral/Vertical Heterostructures With Strong Interlayer Exciton Emission

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A scalable bottom‐up CVD methodology, based on liquid transition metal salt precursors, is presented for the controlled growth of two high‐quality MoSe2–WSe2 heterostructures (HSs): purely lateral (HS I) and hybrid lateral/vertical (HS II), by simply adjusting precursor concentration.
