Images in Anesthesia: 3D systolic anterior motion of the mitral valve [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Anesthesia/Journal canadien d'anesthésie, 2004
cularization and mitral valve repair (quadrangular resection). After cardiopulmonary bypass, systolic anterior motion (SAM) of the anterior mitral valve was seen using epiaortic 3D echocardiography (A–C) and conventional transesophageal echocardiography (D–E).

Acute Effects of Ivabradine on Dynamic Obstruction of the Left Ventricular Outflow Tract in Cats with Preclinical Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, 2014
Background Ivabradine is a negative chronotropic drug with minimal effects on central hemodynamics. Its effect on dynamic obstruction of the left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) in cats with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) remains unknown.

3D TEE and Systolic Anterior Motion in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

open access: yesJACC: Cardiovascular Imaging, 2010
Real-time 3-dimensional echocardiography allows for better visualization and understanding of morphology-to-function correlation among 3-dimensional cardiac phenomena than was possible with 2-dimensional echocardiography in the past (Online [Videos 1][1] and [2][2]) ([1][3]) ([Fig. 1][4]).

Alfieri repair for post-repair mitral systolic anterior motion in a young child

open access: yes, 2013
An 11-year-old patient with Marfan syndrome presented with severe mitral and tricuspid regurgitation and underwent mitral valve repair consisting of a vertical folding plasty of a redundant and prolapsing A1, closure of a deep cleft-like A1-A2 ...

Severe Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction Immediately After Surgical Repair of Ebstein’s Anomaly

open access: yesJACC: Case Reports, 2020
A 52-year-old man following surgery for Ebstein’s anomaly after repair developed acute hemodynamically significant left ventricular outflow tract obstruction with systolic anterior motion of the mitral valve and severe mitral regurgitation.

Persistent Zn2+ Influx‐Mediated Deacetylation of ANXA2 Regulates the “Zn2+‐Autophagic Flux” and Alleviates Intervertebral Disc Degeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Zinc transporter SLC39A14 sustains intracellular Zn2+ levels to activate SIRT3‑dependent ANXA2 deacetylation at K302. This modification weakens ANXA2‑mTOR binding and releases autophagic‑flux suppression in nucleus pulposus cells. Dysregulated Zn2+ homeostasis disrupts this axis to drive intervertebral disc degeneration.

Mitral valve repair during septal myectomy in obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

open access: yesHeart Vessels and Transplantation, 2023
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a common genetic heart disease characterized predominantly by non-dilated hypertrophy of the left ventricle, in the absence of other cardiac, systemic, or metabolic diseases that can cause the observed degree of hypertrophy.

Drug Repurposing for Treating NCOR‐Related Intellectual Disability

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An autism‐associated NCOR1 heterozygous mutation upregulates NRGs and activates NRG backward signaling in hypothalamic GABAergic neurons in mouse models, leading to Gabra2 downregulation and cognitive deficits, which can be therapeutically targeted by repurposing FDA‐approved drugs.
