Computational and Mathematical Model with Phase Change and Metal Addition Applied to GMAW

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2017, Issue 1, 2017., 2017
This work presents a 3D computational/mathematical model to solve the heat diffusion equation with phase change, considering metal addition, complex geometry, and thermal properties varying with temperature. The finite volume method was used and the computational code was implemented in C++, using a Borland compiler.

Numerical Analysis of Hot Cracking in Laser‐Hybrid Welded Tubes

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
In welding experiments conducted on heavy wall pipes, the penetration mode (full or partial penetration) occurred to be a significant factor influencing appearance of solidification cracks. To explain the observed phenomena and support further optimization of manufacturing processes, a computational model was developed, which used a sophisticated ...

A one‐dimensional spot welding model

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, Volume 2006, Issue 1, 2006., 2006
A one‐dimensional model is proposed for the simulations of resistance spot welding, which is a common industrial method used to join metallic plates by electrical heating. The model consists of the Stefan problem, in enthalpy form, coupled with the equation of charge conservation for the electrical potential.
