Biopower, Necropolitics, and the Afterlives of Infants: Uncovering the Ethics of Historical Anatomical Collections

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Biological Anthropology, Volume 190, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives In the 19th and early 20th centuries, many fetuses and infants were collected for anatomical study. Yet little research has explored their origins or the ethical implications of holding and using these individuals in teaching and research.

A Three‐Step Diagnostic Strategy for Malignant Pleural Effusions

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT New diagnostic tools, such as high fluorescence cells (HFc) and tumor markers (TMs), have emerged in the quest to accurately diagnose malignant pleural effusion (MPE). This study evaluated the diagnostic performance of the HFc and TMs combination.

Heteroatom‐Doped Graphdiynes and Their Applications in Photo‐/Electro‐Catalytic CO2 Conversion

open access: yesCarbon Innovation, Volume 1, Issue 1, Page 4-27, June 2026.
This review highlights the versatile role of doped graphdiyne (GDY) in boosting CO2 conversion, where metal and non‐metal doping simultaneously tune the electronic structure, create abundant active sites, and improve charge separation, light harvesting, and CO2 adsorption.

Validation of a Multiparametric, Automated, Macroarray‐Based Assay for the Detection of Autoantibodies in Autoimmune Liver Disease

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, Volume 40, Issue 11, June 2026.
The assay exploited a multiparametric and fully automated device applied to CHORUS EVO to validate that the CHORUS Macroarray Liver Diseases kit is a novel procedure for detecting autoantibodies of AIH and PBC. The assay resulted as linear, accurate, sensitive, specific, and able to distinguish between PBC and AIH.

Deglacial Permafrost Organic Carbon Delivery at the Northern Svalbard Continental Margin: Insights From Tetraether Lipids and Plant Biomarkers

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Biogeosciences, Volume 131, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Degradation of Arctic permafrost due to global warming and sea level rise could trigger positive feedbacks, exacerbating climate change. However, uncertainties remain on how permafrost systems may respond because we lack a complete understanding of the permafrost‐climate feedback.

Erosional and Hydrological Controls on the Age and Thermochemical Stability of Particulate Organic Carbon in an Arctic River

open access: yesGlobal Biogeochemical Cycles, Volume 40, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Understanding the mechanisms that drive the mobilization and fate of organic carbon (OC) in Arctic landscapes is important for modeling the feedbacks among permafrost thaw, carbon cycling, and climate change. While significant progress has been made toward measuring in situ OC decomposition in permafrost soils and bulk particulate organic ...

Use of Pentoxifylline to Improve Seminal Parameters in Dogs

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 3, May 2026.
A single oral dose of pentoxifylline (10 mg/kg) administered 40 min before ejaculation significantly improved sperm concentration and progressive motility in dogs. The effect was most pronounced in oligospermic subjects, supporting pentoxifylline as a rapid, well‐tolerated adjunct therapy for canine subfertility .

From the Modeling of Experiments to the Ab Initio Prediction of Rate Constants: Statistical Rate Theory for a Quantitative Understanding of Gas‐Phase Ion Chemistry

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 27, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
For directly comparing experimental results on gas‐phase ion reactions with the predictions from quantum chemical calculations, the latter must first be converted into rate constants. This review addresses the question of whether current methods of statistical rate theory can accomplish this task reliably. Statistical rate theory has long been used for
