Diversity and Abundance of the Species of Arboreal Mammals in a Tropical Rainforest in Southeast Mexico. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
Arboreal camera trapping provides insights about mammals' community in a human‐modified landscape. High species richness in the area nourish the notion of HML as refuges for fauna. ABSTRACT Habitat loss threatens biodiversity worldwide being particularly detrimental in tropical rainforests where a cumulative deforestation expands for decades.

Involvement of CYP347W1 in neurotoxin 3‐nitropropionic acid‐based chemical defense in mustard leaf beetle Phaedon cochleariae

open access: yesInsect Science, Volume 29, Issue 2, Page 453-466, April 2022., 2022
Chrysomelina beetles store 3‐nitropropionic acid in form of a pretoxin, isoxazolin‐5‐one glucoside‐conjugated ester, to protect themselves against predators. Here we identified a cytochrome P450 monooxygenase, CYP347W1, to be involved in the production of the 3‐nitropropionic acid moiety of the isoxazolin‐5‐one glucoside ester.

A neurodegeneration gene, WDR45, links impaired ferritinophagy to iron accumulation

open access: yesJournal of Neurochemistry, Volume 160, Issue 3, Page 356-375, February 2022., 2022
Schematic model for impact of WDR45 deficiency on iron accumulation, ferritinophagy, and cell death. WDR45‐deficient cells accumulate iron via the nontransferrin‐bound iron pathway (NTBI). The increased total iron levels were accompanied by an increase of the iron storage protein ferritin.
