Golden thistle (Scolymus hispanicus L.) hydromethanolic extracts ameliorated glucose absorption and inflammatory markers in vitro. [PDF]

open access: yesFood Sci Nutr, 2023
A screening study was conducted on golden thistle (Scolymus hispanicus L.) hydromethanolic extract using CaCo‐2 and RAW 264.7 cell lines in vitro. The extract had relatively lower chlorogenic acid bioavailability but significantly reduced glucose efflux and relative GLUT2 mRNA expression.

Baseline glucose-to-lymphocyte ratio predicts nivolumab outcomes in advanced non-small cell lung cancer: a multicenter retrospective study [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
BackgroundBiomarkers guiding immunotherapy in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are limited. The glucose-to-lymphocyte ratio (GLR), integrating metabolic and immune status, has shown prognostic value in several cancers but has not been systematically ...

Unveiling the Pre-Weaning Growth Performance and Some Reproductive Characteristics of Akkaraman and Central Anatolian Merino Sheep. [PDF]

open access: yesVet Med Sci
This study evaluates growth and reproductive traits in Akkaraman (AKK) and Central Anatolian Merino (CAM) sheep in Türkiye. AKK lambs showed higher birth weights but lower weaning weights and growth rates compared to CAM lambs. Significant non‐genetic factors, such as sex, birth type and dam age, influenced these traits.

Exploring the Genetic Basis of Ketosis: Preliminary GWAS Findings on Beta-Hydroxybutyrate Levels in Holstein Cattle. [PDF]

open access: yesInt J Genomics
Ketosis is a metabolic condition characterized by a shift in energy metabolism, occurring when glucose availability is depleted and fat becomes the alternative primary energy source, resulting in the accumulation of ketone bodies. In dairy cattle, ketosis represents a significant challenge, adversely affecting both animal health and farm productivity ...

Synthesis and Characterization of Cationic and Non-Ionic Surfactant Added Organomodified Montmorillonite and the Effect on Migration Characteristics for Starch-Based Film Materials. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Food Sci
ABSTRACT The separation of montmorillonite (Mt) clay platelets was achieved and optimized through organic modification using cationic (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide [CTAB]) and non‐ionic (Tween80) surfactants. Organomodified Mt (oMt) was characterized via particle size analysis, zeta potential, conductivity measurements, Fourier transform infrared (FT‐
