T-spline simplification and local refinement

open access: yesACM SIGGRAPH 2004 Papers, 2004
A typical NURBS surface model has a large percentage of superfluous control points that significantly interfere with the design process. This paper presents an algorithm for eliminating such superfluous control points, producing a T-spline. The algorithm can remove substantially more control points than competing methods such as B-spline wavelet ...

Multiscale Circuit Architecture Associated With Memory Dysfunction in Temporal Lobe Epilepsy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A multiscale precision‐mapping framework reveals that memory impairment in temporal lobe epilepsy arises from the convergence of focal medial temporal pathology, strategic white matter disconnection, and limbic‐centered metabolic network dysfunction.

Cancer‐Associated BCL‐2 Mutants Reveal Mechanisms Towards Venetoclax Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Venetoclax (VEN) resistance in chronic lymphocytic leukemia arises from diverse BCL2 mutations. We map mechanisms contributing to VEN resistance across common BCL‐2 variants. G101V and D103Y reduce drug binding and increase sequestration of pro‐apoptotic proteins. V156D blocks VEN allosterically.

A Novel Approach to Design Flood Hydrograph Plotting in Water Management

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This study proposes a unified analytical framework for plotting design flood hydrographs (DFH) based on four characteristic parameters: total duration (Tt), time to peak (Tp), flood volume (W), and peak discharge (Qp) associated with specific exceedance ...

A Blood‐Derived Factor Rescues ALS: Platelet Factor 4 Activates OPTN‐Dependent Autophagy to Clear SOD1 Aggregates Independently of PINK1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Systemic platelet factor 4 (PF4) is significantly depleted in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Peripheral PF4 replenishment restores central proteostasis by driving OPTN‐dependent, PINK1‐independent selective autophagy in motor neurons. This intervention effectively clears toxic SOD1 aggregates, blunts glial activation, and preserves neuromuscular ...

Spline-Based Smoothing of Noisy Discrete Curves in the Frenet–Serret Framework: Sensitivity Analysis of Curvature and Torsion Estimation via CSI and TSI Indices for Analytically Defined Space Curves

open access: yesAxioms
This study investigates the robustness of Frenet–Serret curvature (κ) and torsion (τ) estimates derived from noisy discretely-sampled three-dimensional space curves, with emphasis on the comparative performance of cubic spline and cubic Hermite ...

EndoTac: An Endoscopic Camera‐Based Tactile Sensor with High Sensitivity for Minimally Invasive Surgery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
EndoTac presents a trocar‐compatible endoscopic vision‐based tactile sensor that uses a convex mirror to enlarge side‐facing tactile coverage during minimally invasive vessel palpation. Distorted tactile images are unwarped and processed by a learning model to estimate vascular deformation, enabling sensitive, spatially distributed tactile perception ...

Pretreatment pulmonary function testing has limited utility in B-cell lymphoma treated with CD19 CAR T cells

open access: yesBlood Advances
: Pulmonary function tests (PFTs) are recommended for hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) evaluation. However, their prognostic value in chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy remains unclear.

Ban Glyphosate—Does It Affect the Swedish Farmers' Willingness to Grow Cover Crops?

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The cultivation of cover crops is one of the new Eco‐scheme practices introduced in Sweden. This study examines how the design of policy attributes of these schemes influences farmers' willingness to grow cover crops on arable land, with particular focus on the potential impact of a glyphosate ban.

A fourth order non-polynomial quintic spline collocation technique for solving time fractional superdiffusion equations

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2019
The purpose of this article is to present a technique for the numerical solution of Caputo time fractional superdiffusion equation. The central difference approximation is used to discretize the time derivative, while non-polynomial quintic spline is ...
