A Novel Hybrid Computational Technique to Study Conformable Burgers’ Equation

open access: yesMathematical and Computational Applications
A fully discrete computational technique involving the implicit finite difference technique and cubic Hermite splines is proposed to solve the non-linear conformable damped Burgers’ equation with variable coefficients numerically.

T-splines mesh generation for complex geometries: Multipatch-NURBS to product-form-T-splines conversion

open access: yesComputational Mechanics
Abstract We present a T-splines mesh generation method for complex geometries, enabling good local mesh refinement in isogeometric analysis (IGA), with the continuity and smoothness desired. Good local mesh refinement enhances the IGA computational efficiency by having a higher density of control points only in places and directions where we ...

Competition Between Liquid‐Liquid Crystalline Phase Separation (LLCPS) and Liquid‐Liquid Phase Separation (LLPS) in Amyloid Fibril Colloidal Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that amyloid fibrils form nematic condensates via liquid–liquid crystalline phase separation (LLCPS). With increasing pH, this transition shifts toward disordered condensates formed through liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS), in which birefringence with lack of a coherent nematic field symmetry originates from enthalpic fibril ...

Phase Diagrams and Piezoelectric Properties of Wurtzite Al1−x−yScxGdyN Heterostructural Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates ferroelectricity and piezoelectric properties improvement of quaternary wurtzite Al1−x−yScxGdyN${\rm Al}_{1-x-y}{\rm Sc}_x{\rm Gd}_y{\rm N}$ films, guided by density functional theory calculations. Wurtzite Al1−x−yScxGdyN${\rm Al}_{1-x-y}{\rm Sc}_x{\rm Gd}_y{\rm N}$ films have a high optical bandgap, enhanced piezoelectric ...

Kinesin‐Induced Buckling Reveals the Limits of Microtubule Self‐Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that kinesin‐driven buckling induces extensive microtubule lattice damage that often exceeds intrinsic self‐repair and leads to filament failure. While curvature, motor motility, and force individually cause limited damage, their combination overwhelms repair.

Modifiable dementia risk factors and AT(N) biomarkers: findings from the EPAD cohort

open access: yesFrontiers in Aging Neuroscience
IntroductionModifiable risk factors account for a substantial proportion of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) cases and we currently have a discrete AT(N) biomarker profile for AD biomarkers: amyloid (A), p-tau (T), and neurodegeneration (N).

Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models for Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cancer immunotherapy faces challenges in predicting treatment responses and understanding resistance mechanisms. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) offer powerful solutions for cancer immunotherapy in patient stratification, biomarker discovery, treatment strategy optimization, and foundation model development.

Characterization and error analysis of an N×N unfolding procedure applied to filtered, photoelectric x-ray detector arrays. II. Error analysis and generalization

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2010
A five-channel, filtered-x-ray-detector (XRD) array has been used to measure time-dependent, soft-x-ray flux emitted by z-pinch plasmas at the Z pulsed-power accelerator (Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA).

Erasable FAP Targeted Spray‐On Probe for Fluorescence‐Guided Surgery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present the first erasable spray‐on probe for fluorescence‐guided surgery. Following topical delivery, FAP‐FLASH550 targets fibroblast activation protein–expressing stromal cells, delineating tumor margins with high tumor‐to‐background ratios. A 365 nm UV light pulse rapidly erases fluorescent signals through triazene photodegradation and subsequent

Association Between Liver Function Grade and Post‐Hepatectomy Liver Failure in Patients With Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Latent Class Analysis

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
We retrospectively analyzed clinical data from patients who underwent hepatectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) using LCA‐based grading system. These findings provide a new risk stratification framework for the design of precision surgery to treat patients with HCC.
