Self-similar gravitational collapse in an expanding universe [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
We derive similarity solutions which describe the collapse of cold, collisionless matter in a perturbed Einstein-de Sitter universe. We obtain three classes of solutions, one each with planar, cylindrical, and spherical symmetry.

Quantifying the Impact of Ocrelizumab on Paramagnetic Rim Lesions in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Paramagnetic rim lesions (PRLs) are a subset of chronic active multiple sclerosis (MS) lesions marked by iron‐laden microglia and macrophages. Ocrelizumab, a monoclonal antibody targeting CD20+ B cells, suppresses acute MS activity, but its effect on PRLs remains unclear. In a longitudinal study of 29 ocrelizumab‐treated patients with at least

Von Economo Neuron Loss in Frontotemporal Dementia: A Meta‐Analysis of Neuropathological Studies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Von Economo neurons (VENs) have been reported to be vulnerable to neurodegeneration in frontotemporal dementia (FTD), particularly the behavioral variant (bvFTD), but these findings have not been systematically assessed across independent brain banks.

Extensions of a TV Playout System to Support Dynamic Broadcast [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper we present our approach to extend current TV playout systems to fulfil the requirements posed by the Dynamic Broadcast system. After a review of the Dynamic Broadcast system we analyze the new flexibilities in the content delivery and study

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

Multiple Sclerosis Relapse Activity After Ozanimod Discontinuation in DAYBREAK Trial Participants

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Multiple Sclerosis Relapse Activity After Ozanimod Discontinuation in DAYBREAK Trial Participants. ABSTRACT Objective Return of disease activity is expected when patients discontinue disease‐modifying therapy (DMT) for multiple sclerosis (MS). Some MS DMTs are associated with higher‐than‐expected disease activity (rebound) after discontinuation.

User's manual for tooth contact analysis of face-milled spiral bevel gears with given machine-tool settings [PDF]

open access: yes
Research was performed to develop a computer program that will: (1) simulate the meshing and bearing contact for face milled spiral beval gears with given machine tool settings; and (2) to obtain the output, some of the data is required for hydrodynamic ...

SPG4 and Dementia: Expanding the Clinical Spectrum

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) is a group of disorders characterized by progressive spasticity and lower limb weakness, with mutations in SPG4/SPAST being the most common cause. Detailed studies and clinical and molecular comparisons across different populations are missing.
