Teaching TAs To Teach [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 51st ACM Technical Symposium on Computer Science Education, 2020
"The only thing that scales with undergrads is undergrads". As Computer Science course enrollments have grown, there has been a necessary increase in the number of undergraduate and graduate teaching assistants (TAs, and UTAs). TA duties often extend far beyond grading, including designing and leading lab or recitation sections, holding office hours ...

Electrostatically driven long‐microbeams for low‐frequency applications

open access: yesElectronics Letters, Volume 54, Issue 6, Page 372-374, March 2018., 2018
This Letter presents the design, fabrication and characterisation of an array of electrostatically actuated clamped–clamped microbeams. A large bottom actuation electrode and long beams with lengths ranging from 1 to 3.4 mm are the major features of the present device.

Mitsugumin 56 (hedgehog acyltransferase‐like) is a sarcoplasmic reticulum‐resident protein essential for postnatal muscle maturation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, Volume 589, Issue 10, Page 1095-1104, April 28, 2015., 2015
Mitsugumin 56 (MG56), also known as the membrane‐bound O‐acyl‐transferase family member hedgehog acyltransferase‐like, was identified as a new sarcoplasmic reticulum component in striated muscle. Mg56‐knockout mice grew normally for a week after birth, but shortly thereafter exhibited a suckling defect and died under starvation conditions.

Ca2+‐calmodulin inhibits tail‐anchored protein insertion into the mammalian endoplasmic reticulum membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, Volume 585, Issue 21, Page 3485-3490, November 04, 2011., 2011
Cytosolic components and pathways have been identified that are involved in inserting tail‐anchored (TA) membrane proteins into the yeast or mammalian endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane. Searching for regulatory mechanisms of TA protein biogenesis, we found that Ca2+‐calmodulin (CaM) inhibits the insertion of TA proteins into mammalian ER membranes ...

NEAR-ABSOLUTE EQUATIONS OF STATE OF DIAMOND, Ag, Al, Au, Cu, Mo, Nb, Pt, Ta, AND W FOR QUASI-HYDROSTATIC CONDITIONS

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2015
Using the modified formalism of [Dorogokupets, Oganov, 2005, 2007], equations of state are developed for diamond, Ag, Al, Au, Cu, Mo, Nb, Pt, Ta, and W by simultaneous optimization of shock-wave data, ultrasonic, X-ray, dilatometric and thermochemical ...
