Occupational intersectionality: Introduction, contextualisation, and relevance to occupational therapy practice

open access: yesAustralian Occupational Therapy Journal, Volume 73, Issue 3, June 2026.
Abstract Background Intersectionality asks professionals to consider the diverse sociocultural identities and positionings that may directly or indirectly impact the day‐to‐day occupational lives of individuals, families, collectives, and communities.

A multi-objective hybrid algorithm for feeder reconfiguration and planning of electrical distribution system

open access: yesEngineering and Applied Science Research, 2019
In this paper, a multi-objective Gravitational Search Algorithm (GSA) and Tabu search heuristic for feeder reconfiguration and planning of an electrical distribution system are proposed.

Proposal of Tabu Search Algorithm Based on Cuckoo Search

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Research in Artificial Intelligence, 2014
This paper presents a new version of Tabu Search (TS) based on Cuckoo Search (CS) called (Tabu-Cuckoo Search TCS) to reduce the effect of the TS problems. The proposed algorithm provides a more diversity to candidate solutions of TS. Two case studies have been solved using the proposed algorithm, 4-Color Map and Traveling Salesman Problem.

Using expert elicitation to predict feral cat, Felis catus, responses to management

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 5, Page 4488-4498, May 2026.
We generated estimates of lethal feral cat management success for 864 scenarios, only 71 lethal management scenarios met a population reduction target of 57%. Cat‐targeted poison baits, in dry conditions and arid areas were most successful. Feral cat management requires continued adaptive strategies to reduce cat impacts.

HITS: Hyperplanes intersection tabu search for maximum score estimation

open access: yesSoftwareX
A tabu search algorithm is proposed for the maximum score estimator computation, where the focus is on large sample size and large number of estimated parameters. This is a deterministic algorithm rather than a stochastic one.

A Generalization Model and Learning in Hardware [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We study two problems in the field of machine learning. First, we propose a novel theoretical framework for understanding learning and generalization which we call the bin model.

A Systems Engineering Methodology for System of Autonomous Systems: Test and Evaluation

open access: yesSystems Engineering, Volume 29, Issue 3, Page 425-443, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Recent advances in artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) have resulted in autonomous systems that reduce operators' workload and involvement in hazardous missions. Integrating these systems into an existing system of systems (SoS) can evolve it into a system of autonomous system (SoAS).

Cable Layout Optimization of Offshore Wind Farm Based on Global Dynamic Minimum Spanning Tree Algorithm

open access: yesWind Energy, Volume 29, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Wind energy has become one of the most promising new energy resources. In the construction of offshore wind farms, the cable accounts for about 10% of the total investment, and the optimization of the cable layout is necessary for reducing the total cost of the wind farm. In this paper, we proposed a novel algorithm for the optimization of the

Local search heuristics for multi-index assignment problems with decomposable costs. [PDF]

open access: yes
The multi-index assignment problem (MIAP) with decomposable costs is a natural generalization of the well-known assignment problem. Applications of the MIAP arise for instance in the field of multi-target multi-sensor tracking.

A Hybrid Tabu Search Algorithm for the Nurse Rostering Problem

open access: yes, 1999
This paper deals with the problem of nurse rostering in Belgian hospitals. This is a highly constrained real world problem that was (until the results of this research were applied) tackled manually. The problem basically concerns the assignment of duties to a set of people with different qualifications, work regulations and preferences.
