Improved subjective sleep quality in older adults by enhancing the GABAergic system in the sensorimotor cortex

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Sleep disturbances are common in older adults, highlighting the need for accessible interventions to improve sleep quality. Eighteen older adults per group (balance training and control) were assessed before and after 12 weeks. The balance group increased GABA levels (magnetic resonance spectroscopy) and functional connectivity ...

BerryBox: An affordable computer vision system for postharvest phenotyping of cranberry and other small fruits

open access: yesThe Plant Phenome Journal, Volume 9, Issue 1, December 2026.
Abstract Fruit size, shape, color, and percent fruit rot are important quality traits for breeding cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon Ait.). Image analysis can be used to measure these traits, but affordable hardware for standardized image capture and integrated user‐friendly software pipelines are lacking.

A Quarter Century of EHD Protein Research: From Endosomal Recycling to Ciliopathies

open access: yesTraffic, Volume 27, Issue 3, September 2026.
Human EHD protein subcellular localization. ABSTRACT Eps15 homology domain‐containing proteins comprise a conserved family of membrane‐remodeling ATPases that regulate endocytic trafficking, membrane fission, receptor recycling, primary ciliogenesis and membrane dynamics across eukaryotes. Since the initial identification of EHD1 and its Caenorhabditis

Cottonseed Cake as an Additive in BRS Capiaçu Grass Silage: Impacts on the Fermentative, Chemical, and Digestibility Characteristics of the Silages

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Agricultural Research, Volume 69, Issue 4, August 2026.
One of the major challenges in livestock production in the semiarid region of Brazil is the scarcity of water and feed for animals. In this context, the valorization of adapted forage crops associated with by‐products generated in the agro‐industry can contribute to circular agriculture, reduce waste, and promote more efficient use of natural resources,

Oligonucleotides Post‐Synthetic Modifications: An Overview of Clickable Nucleoside Phosphoramidites Suitable for Solid‐Phase Synthesis

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 13, 14 July 2026.
Clickable nucleoside phosphoramidites can be incorporated into oligonucleotides via solid‐phase synthesis (SPOS), enabling rapid and site‐specific post‐functionalization using bioorthogonal reactions. This review highlights their design, synthetic accessibility, and SPOS incorporation requirements, along with the kinetics and efficiency of post ...

Temporal Interference Stimulation Enhances Neural Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 37, 3 July 2026.
Temporal interference (TI) stimulation is proposed as a non‐invasive approach to enhance neural regeneration in the deep brain. Theta‐band TI modulation selectively promotes neural progenitor cell differentiation in vitro and augments hippocampal neurogenesis in amouse model of Alzheimer's disease‐like amyloidosis.

Oxidative Stress‐Induced Expression Levels of PXDN and NF‐κB in Type 2 Diabetic Patients With Nephropathy

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
PXDN expression is markedly upregulated in diabetic nephropathy and, versus NF‐κB and oxidative stress markers, shows superior diagnostic performance (AUC 0.79; 90% specificity), supporting PXDN as a sensitive, specific non‐invasive biomarker for early DN.

Faecal Microbiota Transplantation in Anorexia Nervosa: A Systematic Review of Methodologies, Outcomes, and Challenges With Recommendations for Future Studies

open access: yesEuropean Eating Disorders Review, Volume 34, Issue 4, Page 926-945, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a severe psychiatric disorder displaying an altered gut microbiome. Faecal microbiome transplantation (FMT) has emerged as a powerful research tool and potential treatment option in AN due to the microbiome‐gut‐brain axis. Current studies are limited and reveal variable FMT protocols.

Therapeutic Potential of Carica papaya (L.) Extract on NRF2/KEAP1 and Apoptotic Pathways in Asbestos‐Induced Lung Toxicity

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
Asbestos exposure induced oxidative stress, apoptosis, and lung tissue damage in animal models. Treatment with Carica papaya (500 mg/kg) extract improved antioxidant status, reduced oxidative stress biomarkers, and restored lung architecture. Gene expression analysis showed modulation of NRF2/KEAP1 and apoptotic pathways.

Fruit Juice Processing Technologies and Their Impact on the Content of Bioactive Compounds—A Review of Current Approaches

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
Fruit juices contain a variety of bioactive compounds (mainly polyphenols, anthocyanins, carotenoids, and vitamin C) with antioxidant properties. Traditional thermal processing methods may negatively affect the stability of these compounds, leading to reductions in polyphenol and anthocyanin content, decreased vitamin C levels, and antioxidant activity.
