Scroll wave drift along steps, troughs and corners [PDF]
Three-dimensional excitable systems can create nonlinear scroll waves that rotate around one-dimensional phase singularities. Recent theoretical work predicts that these filaments drift along step-like height variations. Here we test this prediction using experiments with thin layers of the Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction.

Predicting right ventricular failure after left ventricular assist device implant: A novel approach
Abstract Aims Right ventricular (RV) failure (RVF) after left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implant is an important cause of morbidity and mortality. Modern, data‐driven approaches for defining and predicting RVF have been under‐utilized. Methods Two hundred thirty‐two patients were identified with a mean age of 55 years; 40 (17%) were women, 132 ...

Temporal profiling of M‐TEER‐related complications
Abstract Aims Transcatheter edge‐to‐edge repair of the mitral valve (M‐TEER) is known for its low complication rates. However, the optimal level and duration of post‐procedural care remain unclear. This study aimed to identify the specific timeframe of post‐procedural complications following M‐TEER.

Reducing False Ventricular Tachycardia Alarms in ICU Settings: A Machine Learning Approach [PDF]
False arrhythmia alarms in intensive care units (ICUs) are a significant challenge, contributing to alarm fatigue and potentially compromising patient safety. Ventricular tachycardia (VT) alarms are particularly difficult to detect accurately due to their complex nature.

Torsade de Pointes : a diagnostic pitfall [PDF]
Torsade de pointes is an unusual arrhythmia which is found in certain well defined clinical situations. The authors present two cases of Torsade de pointes which were admitted on two consecutive days, where the diagnosis was not immediately appreciated ...
