Apropos “Tachycardia Begets Tachycardia”

Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 2005
It has been shown that a tachycardia can facilitate the induction of the same (“atrial fibrillation begets atrial fibrillation”) or a different tachycardia. This may also apply for pacemaker‐mediated tachycardia as the present case documents.

Wide complex tachycardia: differentiating ventricular tachycardia from supraventricular tachycardia

Heart, 2021
### Learning objectives A wide QRS complex tachycardia (WCT) is defined as a tachycardia with QRS duration of >120 ms. Distinguishing between the different potential causes of a WCT can have important implications, particularly in terms of determining the urgency of treatment, deciding between different antiarrhythmic drugs and risk stratification for

The sinus tachycardias [PDF]

open access: possibleNature Clinical Practice Cardiovascular Medicine, 2005
Sinus tachycardia, in the forms of four distinct rhythm disturbances, is frequently encountered in clinical practice but is often overlooked. The most common rhythm, normal sinus tachycardia, whether physiologic, pathologic or iatrogenic, is predominantly catecholamine driven, is virtually asymptomatic and is managed by identifying and treating the ...

The Supraventricular Tachycardias

Annual Review of Medicine, 1988
Most supraventricular tachycardias can be diagnosed confidently using the standard 12-lead electrocardiogram, the more so if such a tracing in sinus rhythm is also available. The underlying mechanisms may often be determined and these may have important therapeutic consequences.

Atrial Tachycardia Facilitating Initiation of Ventricular Tachycardia

Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 1983
A 17‐year‐old male was studied because of clinically documented tachycardias showing narrow and wide QRS complexes. He was found to suffer from an atrial and a ventricular tachycardia. It was demonstrated that initiation of ventricular tachycardia occurred on reaching a critical ventricular rate during atrial tachycardia.

Tachycardia in the Neonate

Pediatric Annals, 2015
Atrial flutter (AFL) is the second most common type of tachyarrhythmia in the fetus and neonate. An atrial rate of 240 to 360 beats per minute, 2:1 atrioventricular conduction, and a “saw tooth” appearance on electrocardiogram (ECG) are characteristic. On echocardiogram, bilateral atrial dilatation is the most common finding.
