Temperature and conductivity anomalies as a proxy for volcanic activity at the Tagoro submarine volcano in the Canary Islands

2021
Temperature and conductivity fluctuations due to the hydrothermal emissions released during the degasification stage of the Tagoro submarine volcano, off El Hierro Island in the Canary Archipelago, may provide robust indicators for characterising and predicting the activity of the system.

Geomorphic features, main habitats and associated biota on and around the newly formed Tagoro submarine volcano, Canary Islands

2020
The Canary Islands showed its latest eruptive activity south of El Hierro Island in 2011, resulting in the formation of the newest underwater volcano in the area, currently known as Tagoro. The submarine volcanic eruption perturbed the water column with important physical–chemical anomalies and promoted the appearance of new geomorphic features and ...

Biomineralization processes in low-temperature, shallow-water hydrothermal vent at Tagoro submarine volcano, El Hierro Island (Central East Atlantic)

2021
A novel hydrothermal system was discovered at the summit of the underwater Tagoro volcano at 89–120 m depth after the 2011–2012 eruption, characterized by the low-temperature venting of Fe-rich fluids that produced a seafloor draped by extensive Fe-flocculate deposits.

First direct hydrothermal heat flux measurements at Tagoro submarine volcano, El Hierro island: preliminary results

2023
Tagoro is one of the few worldwide submarine volcanoes that satisfies the following features: i) is an intraplate and shallow-water volcano; ii) comprises diffuse lowtemperature hydrothermal fields; and iii) its physical-chemical and biological characteristics that have been monitored since its first eruption in 2011 (Fraile-Nuez et al., 2018). Despite

Study of the Distribution of Inorganic Nutrients in the Natural Fertilization Induced by the Submarine Volcano Tagoro (El Hierro) and the Effect of Sample Freezing.

Since its eruption in 2011, the submarine volcano Tagoro (El Hierro, Canary Islands) has been continuously monitored by the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO-CSIC), as it is one of the few submarine volcanoes studied from the onset of its formation.

Study of dissolved oxygen anomalies during the eruptive stage of the submarine volcano Tagoro, El Hierro Island

2020
The eruptive process that took place in October 10th 2011 at the island of El Hierro (Canary Islands), gave rise to the novel submarine volcano Tagoro, at 1.8 km south of the island of El Hierro in the marine reserve of “El Mar de las Calmas” (Canary Islands).
