Phase tomography using an x-ray Talbot interferometer

SPIE Proceedings, 2004
X-ray phase tomography with X-ray Talbot interferometry (XTI) is reported. XTI employs two transmission gratings and generates a contrast corresponding to the differential phase shift caused by a sample. Quantitative phase measurement and tomographic image reconstruction with XTI are demonstrated for biological samples.

Quantitative coherence analysis with an X-ray Talbot–Lau interferometer

Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2010
Differential phase-contrast (DPC) X-ray imaging has been performed in the Talbot-Lau configuration, in which the X-ray source was a combination of an absorption grating and a laboratory X-ray generator. We report here quantitative analysis of partial coherence effects on the X-ray Talbot-Lau interferometer.

An electron Talbot-Lau interferometer and magnetic field sensing

Applied Physics Letters, 2013
We present a demonstration of a three grating Talbot-Lau interferometer for electrons. As a proof of principle, the interferometer is used to measure magnetic fields. The device is similar to the classical Moiré deflectometer. The possibility to extend this work to build a scaled-up electron deflectometer or interferometer for sensitive magnetic field ...

An elliptical Talbot interferometer for fiber Bragg grating fabrication

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2005
A simple and easily aligned two-mirror interferometer for fabricating Bragg gratings in optical bulk materials, waveguides, and fibers is presented. The interferometer consists of a simple phase mask splitting element and two dielectric mirrors optimized for maximum reflectance at an incident angle of 45 deg.

Fabrication of Gratings for an X-ray Talbot Interferometer

2006 IEEE International Symposium on MicroNanoMechanical and Human Science, 2006
X-ray based imaging measurement has found applications in fields such as medical diagnosis and nondestructive inspection, having become one of essential technologies. However, its low sensitivity to biologically soft tissues limits scope of applications. Several methods have been developed for X-ray phase imaging.

Progress toward a large-scale ion Talbot-Lau interferometer

Physical Review A, 2017
The Talbot-Lau interferometer is a proven tool to perform measurements in the near-field regime. It has been extensively used for investigating the wave nature of electrons, atoms, and complex organic molecules. However, when designing devices with high geometrical acceptances, which would be desirable when dealing with low-intensity sources of ...

Fabrication of diffraction grating for X-ray Talbot interferometer

Microsystem Technologies, 2006
Imaging technology using the phase data attracts attention from many researchers as the observation technique of a biomechanical material. We produced a diffraction grating for obtaining high-resolution phase data. We designed the new process flow and developed the fabrication technique composed of MEMS technology, X-ray lithography, and micro ...

Investigation of the partially coherent effects in a 2D Talbot interferometer

Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2011
The recent use of a one-dimensional (1D) X-ray Talbot interferometer has triggered great interest in X-ray differential phase contrast imaging. As an improved version of a 1D interferometer, the development of two-dimensional (2D) grating interferometry strongly stimulated applications of grating-based imaging.

Spectrum optimization of a Talbot-Lau interferometer towards clinical application

SPIE Proceedings, 2012
X-ray phase-contrast imaging (XPCI) using a Talbot-Lau interferometer is a promising modality to increase soft-tissue contrast in medical imaging and has drawn the attention of many groups worldwide. Nevertheless, due to the many free parameters to be optimized in a XPCI setup, there's a long way to go to find the optimal geometry, design energy and

In-plane displacement measurement by using circular grating Talbot interferometer

Optics and Lasers in Engineering, 2015
Abstract In this paper circular grating Talbot interferometer is presented to sense and measure the in-plane displacement. The Talbot interferometric fringe pattern is dilated to eliminate the residual grating lines while preserving the required interferometric fringe pattern. The position of the shift of zeroth, first, second and third order fringes
