Meiotic Instability of Tall Fescue ✕ Giant Fescue Amphiploids

Crop Science, 1989
Amphiploids of tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.) and giant fescue [F. gigantea (L.) Vill.] have high forage quality but are meiotically irregular and have low seed yield. The objective of this study was to evaluate effects of generation advance and cytoplasm on meiotic behavior of tall fescue ✕ giant fescue amphiploid derivatives.

Endophyte Parasitism of Tall Fescue

Journal of Production Agriculture, 1988
The parasitism of tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.) by an endophytic fungus is reviewed relative to the biology of the fungus and the symptomless expression within the grass. A consideration of the taxonomy of the fungus as Acremonium coenophialum is presented and justifications for the affinity of the fungus with the clavicipitacious fungus ...
