Defender or accomplice? Dual roles of plant vesicle trafficking in restricting and enabling geminiviral systemic infection

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 6, Page 2986-3002, March 2026.
Summary The vesicle trafficking system enables multidirectional cargo fluxes between endomembrane compartments. However, vesicle trafficking plays dual roles during pathogen infections. In plants, it mediates autophagic immune responses but can also be hijacked by pathogens to facilitate successful infections.

GAMBARAN ANTENATAL CARE DAN STATUS GIZI IBU HAMIL DI PESISIR TALLO KECAMATAN TALLO KOTA MAKASSAR

open access: yes, 2013

Seagrasses are most vulnerable to marine heatwaves in tropical zones: local‐scale and broad climatic zone variation in thermal tolerances

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 6, Page 2835-2851, March 2026.
Summary Under a changing climate, it is imperative that we understand how species may respond to temperature impacts, which can differ among populations of the same species due to local drivers. Thermal tolerance data, which can be used to assess an organism's upper thermal limits, is valuable to identify species and/or populations' susceptibility to ...

Starch synthesis in Brachypodium distachyon endosperm occurs in dynamic, connected amyloplast compartments

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 6, Page 2877-2893, March 2026.
Summary The morphology of starch granules is a major determinant of the functional and nutritional properties of starch and is highly variable among cereal species. Much of this morphological variation stems from differences in the spatial and temporal patterns of starch granule initiation in amyloplasts during grain development.

The power of ionic movements in plants

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 5, Page 2232-2240, March 2026.
Summary The movement of ion‐driven electrogenic events known as plant action potentials in the Venus flytrap Dionaea muscipula has first been recognized in Darwin's time. Besides electrophysiological techniques making use of current‐ and voltage‐recording electrodes, today an ever‐growing spectrum of tools has become available, that report online ...

Phytosulfokine signalling blocks mycotoxin toxicity in Arabidopsis and mediates suppression of cell death activated by bacterial microbe‐associated molecular patterns

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 5, Page 2515-2530, March 2026.
Summary Fumonisin B1 (FB1) is a mycotoxin that disrupts ceramide biosynthesis and kills plants. Prior activation with bacterial microbe‐associated molecular patterns (MAMPs), such as components of bacterial flagella, effectively suppresses FB1‐induced cell death.
