Opening the black box: in situ imaging of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal structures in soil using synchrotron‐based micro‐CT

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 6, Page 3687-3702, September 2026.
Summary Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) contribute to plant nutrient and water uptake via their extraradical hyphal networks. However, in situ methodologies to quantify architectural and morphological traits of these networks in soil are largely lacking, limiting our understanding of AMF‐mediated resource transport.

Maximum water stress is decoupled from climate, traits, and growth in a xeric oak

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 5, Page 2392-2406, September 2026.
We sampled sites across the geographic distribution of blue oak (Quercus douglasii) in California, USA, which spans a large range of mean annual precipitation. Summary Our ability to explain and predict the spatial patterns of forest mortality remains limited.

PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF JALAN PIET A. TALLO IN KUPANG CITY

open access: yesInternational Journal on Livable Space
Jalan Piet A. Tallo is a major arterial road connecting several areas with the city center of Kupang. The large traffic flow that passes through Jalan Piet A. Tallo, resulting in traffic congestion during rush hour, is the background of this research. This research aims to determine the right alternative solution to reduce traffic congestion on Jalan ...

A drought stress‐induced MYB transcription factor regulates pavement cell shape in leaves of European aspen (Populus tremula)

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 5, Page 2688-2705, September 2026.
MYB305a promoter expression increases in pavement cells as they grow and acquire their complex shape. Summary Leaf pavement cells of many plant species develop jigsaw puzzle‐like shapes in which neighboring cells interdigitate, providing an ideal model for the study of cell shape regulation.

Partial mycoheterotrophy: a common strategy in arbuscular mycorrhizal plants?

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 6, Page 3096-3110, September 2026.
Proposed autotrophy to mycoheterotrophy continuum among arbuscular mycorrhizal plants. Summary The vast majority of land plants transfer part of the organic carbon they produce by photosynthesis to arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi inside their root cells; the fungi in turn help plants to take up nutrients and water from the soil.
