Humerus development in moles (Talpidae, Mammalia)
Acta Zoologica, 2013AbstractThe humerus of fossorial moles has a highly derived anatomy, reflecting the ecological specialization of these animals for digging. It is short and broad, with enlarged muscle attachment sites and pronounced articulations compared to non‐fossorial sister taxa and other mammals.

Penis morphology of two European mole species (Soricomorpha, Talpidae)
Biologia, 2021The penis of the recently described mole Talpa martinorum and its relative, the European mole Talpa europaea, are described and compared. Considerable differences in the morphology of the glans penis were found: the apical part is narrow and rod-like in T. martinorum and conical in T.

Molecular systematics and evolutionary biogeography of the genus Talpa (Soricomorpha: Talpidae)
Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2010The range of the genus Talpa covers almost all Europe up to Western Asia. This genus has never been the object of comprehensive systematic studies using molecular and genetic techniques, such that the evolutionary relationships among species remain unclear.

Biochemical Systematics of North American Moles (Insectivora: Talpidae)
Journal of Mammalogy, 1982Genetic variation within and among five genera and seven species of North American moles of the family Talpidae was examined using starch-gel electrophoresis. All loci examined, except LAP, were found to segregate for more than one allele among species, with a maximum of eight different alleles at any single locus.
