Phenotypic Subtypes of Obstructive Eustachian Tube Dysfunction as Defined by Cluster Analysis

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
Obstructive ETD encompasses five clinically distinct phenotypes, ranging from mild, post‐upper respiratory infection presentations to chronic, bilateral disease driven by sinusitis and reflux. These were identified through hierarchical cluster analysis of 490 patients using seven key clinical variables.

Primary aneurysmal bone cyst of talus

open access: yesJournal of Research in Medical Sciences, 2012
Aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) of the talus is an extremely rare lesion; less than 20 cases have been reported in PubMed till 2012. We report a primary ABC of the talus in a 20-year-old male that was managed by extended intralesional curettage with phenol as

Alpine flora of Kashmir Himalaya: floristic assessment, life history traits and threat status

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Alpine ecosystems in the Himalaya are considered to be at a higher risk to anthropogenic global change drivers. The Kashmir Himalaya, located in the north‐western side of the Himalayan biodiversity hotspot, harbors a diverse alpine flora, which remains systematically little investigated.

Biogeography and diversification patterns in the Irano‐Turanian biodiversity hotspots inferred from a molecular phylogeny of the subendemic Iris subgenus Scorpiris (Iridaceae)

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
The Irano‐Turanian Floristic Region harbors a rich flora, but our understanding of the development of this diversity is limited by a lack of data on phylogenetic relationships and biogeographic patterns of endemic and more widespread plants. Hypotheses of in situ diversification versus allopatric diversification were tested using Iris subgen. Scorpiris,

Detection and mapping of hydrothermally altered rocks in the vicinity of the comstock lode, Virginia Range, Nevada, using enhanced LANDSAT images [PDF]

open access: yes
The author has identified the following significant results. LANDSAT images enhanced by the band-ratioing method can be used for reconnaissance alteration mapping in moderately heavily vegetated semiarid terrain as well as in sparsely vegetated to ...

What does coexistence mean? Insight from place‐based trajectories of pastoralists and bears encounters in the Pyrenees

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract The recovery of large carnivores in Europe raises issues related to sharing landscape with humans. Beyond technical solutions, it is widely recognized that social factors also contribute to shaping coexistence. In this context, scholars increasingly stress the need to adopt place‐based approaches by analysing how humans and wildlife interact ...

The influence of wildlife images on conservation intentions: Investigating the mediating role of emotion

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Human actions can not only contribute to species extinction but also offer a path towards preventing it. Therefore, it is essential for conservation communicators to identify optimal communication methods to encourage positive pro‐conservation behaviours.
