Synthesis of citrophilus mealybug sex pheromone using chrysanthemol extracted from Pyrethrum (Tanacetum cinerariifolium)

open access: yesNatural Product Research, 2018
A commercial pyrethrum extract was used as a source of chrysanthemol for the synthesis of the citrophilus mealybug (Pseudococcus calceolariae) sex pheromone. The chrysanthemic acid esters (pyrethrins I) were isolated and subsequently reduced to obtain chrysanthemol, which was used for ester pheromone synthesis.

An Agrobacterium-mediated transformation system of pyrethrum (Tanacetum cinerariifolium) based on leaf explants

open access: yesScientia Horticulturae, 2013
Abstract Pyrethrum ( Tanacetum cinerariifolium ) is well-known for the production of natural pyrethrin insecticides, which are isolated from the dried flower heads. To allow genetic analysis and improvement of pyrethrum in terms of yield and quality by molecular breeding a transformation protocol would be desirable.

Analysis of pyrethrins in extract of Tanacetum cinerariifolium using Raman spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Dalmatian pyrethrum (Tanacetum cinerariifolium /Trev./ Schultz Bip (Asteraceae), the species native for East Adriatic coast, is known as the main source of pyrethrin, which is mixture of six active compounds (pyrethrin I and II, cinerin I and II and jasmolin I and II), acting as natural insecticide.

Efficiency of different extraction methods on the isolation of pyrethrin from Dalmatian pyrethrum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
