Nutrition of Allotanais hirsutus (Crustacea: Tanaidacea) at Kerguelen Island

1985
High densities (56000–146000 individuals m2) of Allotanais hirsutus were observed in the intertidal zone of Morbihand Bay at Kerguelen Island. A new method, involving 14C-labelled tracers, was used in a preliminary in situ investigations of the ingestion of bacteria by A. hirsutus.

Acanthapseudes elegans n. g., n. sp. is described after a single specimen collected on the outer slope of the coral reef in the vicinity of Tuléar (S.W. of Madagascar): it resembles the Acanthaspidiidae (Isopoda, Asellota) in general aspect and dwells among Hydrozoa and Alcyonaria.
