Abstract The performance of integrated tandem solar cell (ITSC) devices made from pn homojunctions has been investigated. The intrinsic electrical interconnection present in an ITSC device places important restrictions on the choice of the energy gaps of the semiconductors to be used. Total conversion efficiencies are calculated and they are compared

Tandem quantum well solar cells
2008 33rd IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference, 2008Quantum wells offer advantages in conventional bulk tandem solar cells since they allow the independent tailoring of the absorption edge of either cell with no lattice mismatch and subsequent relaxation. We describe progress in the band gap engineering of InGaP/GaAs solar cells using strain balanced quantum wells and present a tandem quantum well ...

Tandem type amorphous solar cells
Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1983Abstract An efficiency of 8.6 % by the three-stacked tandem type amorphous solar cell which consists of a-Si:H and a-SiGe:H with a size of 10 by 10 cm was obtained. This tandem type solar cell showed stable characteristics for the prolonged light exposure.

High-efficiency GaInP/GaAs tandem solar cells
Journal of Propulsion and Power, 1994We report on multijunction GaInP/GaAs photovoltaic cells with total‐area efficiencies of 29.5% at one‐sun concentration and air mass (AM) 1.5 global and 25.7% one‐sun, AM0. These values represent the highest efficiencies achieved by any solar cell under these illumination conditions.

Perovskites for tandem solar cells
Science, 2016Solar Cells Improving the performance of conventional single-crystalline silicon solar cells will help increase their adoption. The absorption of bluer light by an inexpensive overlying solar cell in a tandem arrangement would provide a step in the right direction by improving overall efficiency.

Introduction to Tandem Solar Cells
2022Photovoltaics has today become a mature industry and one of the main reasons of the tremendous growth in recent years is the continuous improvement in the performance and lifetime of PV modules. However, one of the main limitations in the improvement of the performance of commercialized PV devices is that the efficiency is getting closer and closer to ...
