Tangent cones, starshape and convexity [PDF]
In the last few years various infinite dimensional extensions to Krasnoselski's Theorem on starshaped sets [14] have been made. These began with a paper by Edelstein and Keener [8] and have culminated in the papers by Borwein, Edelstein and O'Brien [3] [4] by Edelstein, Keener and O'Brien [9] and finally by O'Brien [16].

Metric Properties of Conflict Sets
In this paper we show that the tangent cone of a conflict set in $R^n$ is a linear affine cone over a conflict set of smaller dimension and has dimension $n-1$.

On a digitized laboratory extruder, discrete element method modelling is studied, considering two classes of particles representing aggregates of 1) active material and 2) binder and carbon material is studied. Various extrusion scenarios leading to the formation of filaments devoted to the 3D printing of lithium‐ion battery electrodes are studied. The

Constrained Variational-Hemivariational Inequalities on Nonconvex Star-Shaped Sets
In this paper, we study a class of constrained variational-hemivariational inequality problems with nonconvex sets which are star-shaped with respect to a certain ball in a reflexive Banach space.

Abstract Background Previous experiments inducing leakage of embryonic cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) suggest the necessity of intraventricular CSF pressure (PCSF) for brain morphogenesis. Nevertheless, how embryonic PCSF occurs is unclear, especially in utero. Results Using a Landis water manometer, we measured PCSF in fetal mice isolated from the amniotic

For a set-valued mapping M defined between two Hausdorff topological vector spaces E and F and with closed convex graph and for a given point (x,y)∈E×F, we study the minimal time function associated with the images of M and a bounded set Ω⊂F defined by ...

Specialization to the tangent cone and Whitney Equisingularity
Let (X,0) be a reduced, equidimensional germ of analytic singularity with reduced tangent cone (C_{X,0},0). We prove that the absence of exceptional cones is a necessary and sufficient condition for the smooth part \X^0 of the specialization to the ...

Let $X\subset\mathbb{C}^m$ be an unbounded pure $k$-dimensional algebraic set. We define the tangent cones $C_{4, \infty}(X)$ and $C_{5,\infty}(X)$ of $X$ at infinity. We establish some of their properties and relations. We prove that $X$ must be an affine linear subspace of $\mathbb{C}^m$ provided that $C_{5, \infty}(X)$ has pure dimension $k$.
