Asymptotic Behavior of Diffusion of Tangential Velocity Discontinuity in Rarefied Gas
The Physics of Fluids, 1968A treatment of the diffusion of a tangential discontinuity in flow velocity is given for the linearized Boltzmann-Krook equation, with emphasis on the asymptotic behavior for large values of time. The connection with the general asymptotic theory of Grad is also discussed.

Method for reducing the tangential velocities in aircraft trailing vortices
Journal of Aircraft, 1980A method is presented to reduce the tangential velocities in the trailing vortex system shed from an airplane wing. The device employed is a porous section of the wing at the tip which essentially tends to equalize the pressure on the upper and lower surfaces.

TANGENTIAL VELOCITY CHANGE WITH TIME OF POLYACRYLAMIDE SOLUTION IN A CONCENTRIC ANNULUS
Chemical Engineering Communications, 1988Tangential velocity change with time of polyacrylamide solution, which had not only viscosity but also elasticity, in a concentric annulus after step motion of the inner cylinder was measured by using a LDV method. By adapting a conception of a second order lag control system which had a feedback connection, an equation for estimating the velocity ...

On the tangential velocity arising in a crystallinge approximation of evolving plane curves
Kybernetika, 2007Summary: In a crystalline algorithm, a tangential velocity is used implicitly. In this short note, it is specified for the case of evolving plane curves, and is characterized by using the intrinsic heat equation.

Anisotropic stellar systems with tangentially biased velocity dispersion
1997This paper provides a simple general procedure to construct self-consistent spherical equilibrium models of stellar systems populated by stars in quasi-circular orbits. The focus on Maxwellian-like distributions in the relevant velocity space and the use of the epicyclic expansion allow us to work with physically intuitive models.
