Finite Element Analysis and Machine Learning‐Based Prediction of Oil Tank Behavior Under Diverse Operating Conditions

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2025.
A hybrid Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Machine Learning (ML) approach was used to predict the structural behavior and lifespan of oil storage tanks. ANFIS excelled in stress prediction, while ANN proved superior for lifespan estimation, thus enabling optimized design and maintenance strategies for industrial applications.

Rollover stability analysis of tank vehicles based on the solution of liquid sloshing in partially filled tanks

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2017
Tank vehicles have quite poor roll stability in driving. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to investigate tankers’ roll stability by vehicle dynamic modeling.

A comparison of in situ and on‐vessel larval rearing for coral seeding

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 33, Issue 4, May 2025.
Coral sexual recruitment is critical to reef recovery yet often fails on degraded reefs. Coral seeding is one approach to artificially increase the densities of coral settlers on reefs and can be applied in many ways. A thorough comparison of seeding‐method performance is needed to inform restoration decisions yet is difficult to undertake given the ...

Numerical simulation of aquaculture ship motions coupled with tanks sloshing in time domain

open access: yesZhongguo Jianchuan Yanjiu, 2020
Objectives For multi-tank aquaculture ships, the numerical method is used to study the coupling problem between tank sloshing and hull motion under transverse wave excitation in the time domain. Methods Hull motion is predicted using the impulse-response

Multi-Objective Optimization of a T-Shaped Anti-Sloshing Baffle Based on NSGA-II

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2022
Unlike the solid cargo in the truck, the liquid in the tank truck fluctuates with the movement of the vehicle. Most of the current research study focuses on the transverse shock caused by the sloshing liquid and control of the liquid movement in the ...

How much seagrass does a dugong need? Metabolic rate of live wild dugongs, Dugong dugon, determined through indirect calorimetry (oxygen consumption)

open access: yesMarine Mammal Science, Volume 41, Issue 2, April 2025.
Abstract Deterioration of seagrass beds worldwide has raised concern about the future of dugongs because almost all aspects of their life history depend on availability of seagrass. Understanding their energy metabolism and consequently how much seagrass they need will inform protective conservation strategies for dugongs. This study determined resting
