Prediction of Roller Skewing in Tapered Roller Bearings

Tribology Transactions, 2008
The paper proposes a comprehensive model to predict the skew movement of a roller in tapered roller bearings. Numerical solutions are given on a LM48548/LM48510 bearing. The effect of the shaft speed, ring misalignment, and lubricant temperature on the roller skew angle is presented and compared to the experimental data available in the literature. The

Experimental and numerical roller skew in tapered roller bearings

Tribology International, 2020
Abstract This work investigates the roller skew of a tapered roller bearing. An experimental setup has been built to measure the roller skew angle in tapered roller bearings thanks to two inductive proximity sensors (IPS). Using the roller skew measured values, a numerical friction law at the rib-roller end contact is defined.

Kinematic Equilibrium of Rollers in Tapered Roller Bearings

Tribology Transactions, 2019
This article proposes a numerical analysis for kinematic equilibrium at each roller in tapered roller bearings to investigate the sliding and rolling behavior as well as the skew movement.

WEAR RESISTANCE OF ROLLER BEARING ELEMENTS WITH TAPERED ROLLERS

Journal of Science and Innovative Development, 2022
This article describes the development of methods for calculating the wear resistance of tapered roller bearings of trucks, and presents findings from the research work implemented in order to determine the wear resistance of friction pairs operating in the presence and absence of abrasive particles in the oil of the main transmission in a motor ...

Torque of Tapered Roller Bearings

Journal of Tribology, 1991
An analytic tapered roller bearing torque model is presented along with laboratory test data. Initial results of this proposed model are favorable. An accurate general purpose torque prediction tool could be obtained by extending the concepts presented in conjunction with a more comprehensive analysis of actual bearing operating conditions.

Ball and Taper Roller Bearings

The Journal of the Royal Aeronautical Society, 1946
This analytical treatment gives general considerations concerning “ true rolling ” of a rolling body in a circular path : firstly, for constant speed of its centre of gravity, and, secondly, for acceleration of its centre of gravity. From these are derived the relations of the dimensions, as function of the conditions, and the corresponding ...
