Internal load modelling of tapered-roller main bearings in wind turbines [PDF]
The replacement of double-row spherical roller bearings with double-row tapered roller bearings as the main shaft support in wind turbines has been proposed as one of the solutions to the premature failures affecting the industry. In order to improve our

Comparison of planetary bearing load-sharing characteristics in wind turbine gearboxes [PDF]
In this paper, the planetary load-sharing behavior and fatigue life of different wind turbine gearboxes when subjected to rotor moments are examined. Two planetary bearing designs are compared – one design using cylindrical roller bearings with clearance

Study on the Friction Characteristics and Fatigue Life of Manganese Phosphate Coating Bearings
In this study, the tapered roller bearing was adopted to explore the effect of the manganese phosphate coating on the friction, wear, and lifespan of bearings. Line friction samples with and without a manganese phosphate coating were prepared.

Constructing fast and representative analytical models of wind turbine main bearings [PDF]
This paper considers the modelling of wind turbine main bearings using analytical models. The validity of simplified analytical representations used in existing work is explored by comparing main-bearing force reactions with those obtained from higher ...

Geometric Aspects of Modifications of Tapered Roller Bearings [PDF]
The basic analytical relationships for construction of modified tapered roller bearings based on standard bearing type 7000 are dwelt upon. The modification consists in the replacement of rolling elements in the form of tapered rollers with a rectilinear

Influence of the Number of Rollers on a Tapered Roller Bearing [PDF]
In roller bearings, the outer ring is usually fixed and the inner ring has the rolling motion. Concerning TRB (tapered roller bearings), this motion generates forces that are transmitted to the outer ring by the tapered rollers. Thus, contact stresses occur and the number of rollers plays a major role with respect to the load distribution.
