Morphological and ultrastructural variations in Scliizjaea pectinata (Schizaeaceae: Pteridophyta)
Schizaea pectinata (L.) Sw. was collected from the extreme ends of its geographical range in South Africa for a study of sporangial development, sporogenesis and tapetal organisation.

Abstract Teaching white matter (WM) anatomy to undergraduates is challenging. This is partly because WM fibers are oriented intricately and Klingler's dissection, the gold standard method used to demonstrate it, often requires time, advanced anatomical knowledge, and refined dissection skills.

Tapetum development and meiosis play crucial roles in anther development. Here we identified a rice gene, DEFECTIVE TAPETUM AND MEIOCYTES 1 (DTM1), which controls the early stages of that development.

OsMS188 Is a Key Regulator of Tapetum Development and Sporopollenin Synthesis in Rice
Background During anther development, the tapetum provides essential nutrients and materials for pollen development. In rice, multiple transcription factors and enzymes essential for tapetum development and pollen wall formation have been cloned from ...

TAPETUM - A MISUNDERSTOOD TOPIC
Quite frequently students are asked to explain tapetum. We found that various books of anatomy have different explanations. Students are confused as to which book must be followed for its explanation. We are therefore writing an inference drawn by consulting books and also by observing the human brain in cadavers.

Electron Microscopy of the Tapetum Lucidum of the Cat [PDF]
The fine structure of the tapetum of the cat eye has been investigated by electron microscopy. The tapetum is made up of modified choroidal cells, seen as polygonal plates grouped around penetrating blood vessels which terminate in the anastomosing capillary network of the choriocapillaris.

Many nocturnal animals are difficult to study because they are rarely seen, including nocturnal primates, galagos and pottos, in West Africa. Working with over 600 people in 52 villages in southern Guinea‐Bissau, we found that communities frequently recognized galagos by their red eyeshine and distinctive calls, while pottos were not known.

Salicylic acid reverses pollen abortion of rice caused by heat stress
Background Extremely high temperatures are becoming an increasingly severe threat to crop yields. It is well documented that salicylic acid (SA) can enhance the stress tolerance of plants; however, its effect on the reproductive organs of rice plants has

Abstract Fewer than 50 of the over 30,000 extant species of fishes have developed anatomical specializations facilitating endothermy in specific body regions. The plankton‐feeding basking shark (Cetorhinus maximus), traditionally classified as an ectotherm, was recently shown to have regionally endothermic traits such as centralized red muscle (RM ...

After meiosis, tapetal cells in the innermost anther wall layer undergo program cell death (PCD)-triggered degradation. This step is essential for microspore development and pollen wall maturation. We identified a key gene, Defective Tapetum Cell Death 1
