Roles of alkali/alkaline earth metals in steam reforming of biomass tar for hydrogen production over perovskite supported Ni catalysts

, 2019
Biomass steam gasification has a large potential to produce high-purity hydrogen, and perovskites are good candidates to act as catalyst supports in eliminating the biomass tar produced during reforming.

Wood tars allergy, cross‐sensitization and coal tar

Contact Dermatitis, 1990
In a population of 1883 patients tested for allergic contact dermatitis (1985–1988), a prevalence of 5.4%(103 cases) was seen for wood tars (ICDRG allergen, 12% pet.) sensitization. In this group (n=103), retrospectively, a combined allergy was seen to wood tars and fragrance mix in 43% and to wood tars and balsam of Peru in 31%.

Lab-scale and pilot-scale two-stage gasification of biomass using active carbon for production of hydrogen-rich and low-tar producer gas

, 2020
Laboratory- and pilot-scale two-stage air gasification of various types of biomass was performed to produce hydrogen-rich and low-tar gas. Typical tar removal apparatuses, such as scrubbers and electrostatic precipitators, were not employed and the only ...

Layered uniformly delocalized electronic structure of carbon supported Ni catalyst for catalytic reforming of toluene and biomass tar

Energy Conversion and Management, 2019
Lignite rich in oxygen-containing species (OCSs) was employed as perfect ion-exchange material for high activity catalyst preparation. HCl treatment Shengli lignite (HSL) selectively removed the organic salt and improved capability of ion exchange.

Characterization of acid tars

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2010
Acid tars from the processing of petroleum and petrochemicals using sulfuric acid were characterized by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS), inductively coupled plasma/optical emission spectrometry (ICP/OES), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometry, and scanning electron microscopy/energy ...

Analytical assessment of tar generated during gasification of municipal solid waste: Distribution of GC–MS detectable tar compounds, undetectable tar residues and inorganic impurities

, 2020
Tar, one of the most challenging impurities in the syngas generated from the gasification of municipal solid waste (MSW), can severely restrict its applicability in advanced utilization systems such as solid oxide fuel cells, gas engines and combined ...

Low-tar and high-tar cigarettes.

Archives of environmental health, 1976
Mice were exposed for 7 to 8 minutes on weekdays to fresh smoke from high-tar (HT) or low-tar (LT) cigarettes for varying periods of up to 36 weeks. Mice exposed to HT cigarettes exhibited more marked alterations in humoral immune responsiveness, hematological profiles, and pulmonary pathologic findings than those exposed to LT cigarettes.

Juniper Tar Poisoning

Clinical Toxicology, 2005
Juniper tar (cade oil) is distilled from the branches and wood of Juniperus oxycedrus. It contains etheric oils, triterpene and phenols, and is used for many purposes in folk medicine. A case is reported of a previously healthy man who ingested a spoonful of home-made extract of Juniperus oxycedrus. The poisoning caused fever, severe hypotension, renal
