Dose Splitting Increases Selection for Both Target‐Site and Non‐Target‐Site Fungicide Resistance—A Modelling Analysis

open access: yesPlant Pathology
ABSTRACT Fungicide resistance management principles recommend that farmers avoid splitting the total dose applied of a fungicidal mode of action (MoA) across multiple applications per season (‘dose splitting’).

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

10,000-Times Diluted Doses of ACCase-Inhibiting Herbicides Can Permanently Change the Metabolomic Fingerprint of Susceptible Avena fatua L. Plants

open access: yesPlants, 2019
Intentional use of low dosage of herbicides has been considered the cause of non-target resistance in weeds. However, herbicide drift could be a source of low dosage that could be detected by weeds and change their metabolism.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

CRISPR/Cas Technology in Insect Insecticide Resistance

open access: yesInsects
Chemicals and biological insecticides play a crucial role as pest management strategies in modern agriculture and forestry. However, their excessive and unreasonable use inevitably leads to varying degrees of resistance among insect populations, which ...

Genetic diversity and identification of symbiotic community of Q Bemisia tabaci from Mediterranean countries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Introduction: We investigated a) the genetic diversity and population structure, b) the secondary symbiotic bacterial community and c) the frequencies of target site mutations conferring resistance to pyrethroids and organophospates in Q Bemisia tabaci ...

Aptamer Displacement Identifies Alternative Small-Molecule Target Sites that Escape Viral Resistance

open access: yesChemistry & Biology, 2007
Aptamers targeting reverse transcriptase (RT) from HIV-1 inhibit viral replication in vitro, presumably by competing with binding of the primer/template complex. This site is not targeted by the currently available small-molecule anti-HIV-1 RT inhibitors.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.
