Solid Particle Erosion of a Limestone Target Surface under Controlled Conditions
This work focuses on the erodent capability of yttria-stabilized zirconia beads impacting on a limestone target surface. The target surface was used as the cap of a hardened steel vial clamped on a SPEX Mixer/Mill 8000.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

The impact of a shock-compressed layer on the mass transfer of target material during processing compression plasma flows [PDF]
The paper describes the results of experimental and numerical research of the thickness of the molten bath and the surface erosion of a substance under the influence of compression plasma flows.

Digital twins to accelerate target identification and drug development for immune‐mediated disorders
Digital twins integrate patient‐derived molecular and clinical data into personalised computational models that simulate disease mechanisms. They enable rapid identification and validation of therapeutic targets, prediction of drug responses, and prioritisation of candidate interventions.

High Velocity Dust Collisions: Forming Planetesimals in a Fragmentation Cascade with Final Accretion
In laboratory experiments we determine the mass gain and loss in central collisions between cm to dm-size SiO2 dust targets and sub-mm to cm-size SiO2 dust projectiles of varying mass, size, shape, and at different collision velocities up to ~56.5 m/s ...

Soil Erosion Status Prediction Using a Novel Random Forest Model Optimized by Random Search Method
Soil erosion, the degradation of the earth’s surface through the removal of soil particles, occurs in three phases: dislocation, transport, and deposition.

Lessons Learned From a Delayed‐Start Trial of Modafinil for Freezing of Gait in Parkinson's Disease
ABSTRACT Objective Freezing of gait (FOG) in people with Parkinson's disease (PwPD) is debilitating and has limited treatments. Modafinil modulates beta/gamma band activity in the pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN), like PPN deep brain stimulation. We therefore tested the hypothesis that Modafinil would improve FOG in PwPD.
