Sand Erosion Wear Analysis of 300M Steel Sand Based on Johnson-Cook Model [PDF]

open access: yesCailiao Baohu
Exposed components such as aircraft landing gear sleeves are prone to erosion wear from hard sand and gravel particles due to prolonged exposure to high fluid velocities and particle-concentrated environments. In order to explore the influence of this ...

Coulomb explosion sputtering of selectively oxidized Si [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We have studied multiply charged Arq+ ion induced potential sputtering of a unique system comprising of coexisting Silicon and Silicon oxide surfaces. Such surfaces are produced by oblique angle oxygen ion bombardment on Si(100), where ripple structures ...

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

The transport of tungsten impurities induced by the intrinsic carbon during upper-single null discharge on EAST tokamak

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2020
The transport as well as accumulation of tungsten (W) impurity is one of the critical issues for the W divertor operation. The EAST tokamak with W and graphite divertor targets, provides a good platform for the investigation of W impurity behaviors.

A study of the nature of solid particle impact and shape on the erosion morphology of ductile metals [PDF]

open access: yes
Impulsive versus steady jet impingement of spherical glass bead particles on metal surfaces was studied using a gas gun facility and a commercial sand blasting apparatus.

The Formation of Jupiter, the Jovian Early Bombardment and the Delivery of Water to the Asteroid Belt: The Case of (4) Vesta

open access: yes, 2014
The asteroid (4) Vesta, parent body of the Howardite-Eucrite-Diogenite meteorites, is one of the first bodies that formed, mostly from volatile-depleted material, in the Solar System. The Dawn mission recently provided evidence that hydrated material was

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) for monitoring soil erosion in Morocco [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This article presents an environmental remote sensing application using a UAV that is specifically aimed at reducing the data gap between field scale and satellite scale in soil erosion monitoring in Morocco. A fixed-wing aircraft type Sirius I (MAVinci,

Wnt signaling as a translational target in rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) are chronic inflammatory diseases mainly affecting joints. RA primarily targets the synovial joints and is characterized by cartilage and bone erosion, whereas PsA is associated with skin and nail ...

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting

A map and a pipe : a new approach to characterizing erosion-corrosion regimes of Fe in three dimensions using CFD modelling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In studies of erosion-corrosion, much work has been carried out in recent years to identify regimes of behaviour. Such regimes describe the transition between the erosion and corrosion dominated mechanisms.
