Target recognition is a multilevel process requiring a sequence of algorithms at low, intermediate and high levels. Generally, such systems are open loop with no feedback between levels and assuring their performance at the given probability of correct identification (PCI) and probability of false alarm (Pf) is a key challenge in computer vision and ...

Detection and recognition of visual targets
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 1985To aid the development of detection-based interpretations of visual resolution, we evaluated theorems that (1) relate observers' performance in detection of a single target to that in 1-of-m signal detection and (2) predict recognition performance from measured performance at 1-of-m detection.

A sonar target recognition experiment
ICASSP '79. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005This paper presents results of an experiment to determine the feasibility of an active sonar target recognition system. Echo data from 16 targets of maximum dimension 12 inches were obtained in a salt water pool. The target frequency responses in the 15-45 kHz band were used to characterize the targets.

Image Quality and Target Recognition
Human Factors: The Journal of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, 1967The terminology and literature in the area of image quality and target recognition are reviewed. An experiment in which subjects recognized strategic and tactical targets in aerial photographs with controlled image degradations is described. Some findings are: Recognition performance is only moderate for representative conditions.

A quick target recognition technology
Proceedings of 2011 International Conference on Electronic & Mechanical Engineering and Information Technology, 2011Target recognition technology has been widely used in different areas around the world. Especially, target recognition technology developed for platforms such as satellite, unmanned reconnaissance plane, aircraft, etc. has been the focus of attention for various countries.

A dynamic target recognition system
[1988 Proceedings] 9th International Conference on Pattern Recognition, 2003A dynamic target recognition system is described which uses blackboard structure to organize the knowledge of images targets, background objects, and procedures. An optical matcher is used to find a suitable knowledge source during the process. This system can quickly recognize an incomplete image target. >

Recognition of Hits in a Target
2010This paper describes two possible ways of hit recognition in a target. First method is based on frame differencing with use of a stabilization algorithm to eliminate movements of a target. Second method uses flood fill with random seed point definition to find hits in the target scene.

Space Target Recognition Based on Biomimetic Pattern Recognition
2009 First International Workshop on Database Technology and Applications, 2009Biomimetic Pattern Recognition is a new model of Pattern Recognition based on “matter cognition” instead of “matter classification”. This new model is much closer to the function of human being, than traditional statistical Pattern Recognition using “optimal separating” as its main principle. But it has been investigated in 2D sample space, In this ...

Radioligand Recognition of Insecticide Targets
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2018Insecticide radioligands allow the direct recognition and analysis of the targets and mechanisms of toxic action critical to effective and safe pest control. These radioligands are either the insecticides themselves or analogs that bind at the same or coupled sites.

Automatic target recognition of ground targets
2013An overview of the fundamentals of ground target recognition using SAR has been given. There is a tendency, when discussing ground target ATR, to consider only the most complex problems consisting of very many target classes and challenging clutter environments.
