Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

Structural System Reliability Analysis Method for Cable-Supported Bridges Based on Deep Belief Networks

open access: yesZhongwai Gonglu
Aiming at the high-precision reconstruction of structural function functions caused by the strong nonlinearity of cable load-bearing bridge structures, this study presented a structural system reliability analysis method based on a deep belief network ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

DETERMINING THE OPTIMAL VALUES OF TARGET RELIABILITY INDEX OF BUILDING STRUCTURES FOR FLAT FLOORS OF FRAME BUILDINGS

open access: yes, 2021
Target reliability levels recommended in various national and international documents are inconsistent.  In various sources, they are determined depending on the relative costs of safety measures, the consequences of failure, the risk to life, discount rate, etc.

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.

Pile design practice in southern Africa Part 2: Implicit reliability of existing practice

open access: yesJournal of the South African Institution of Civil Engineers, 2013
Limit state design has become the basis of geotechnical design codes worldwide. With the semi-probabilistic limit state design approach, load and resistance factors of (deterministic) design functions are calibrated on the basis of reliability theory ...

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

A general novel process capability index for normal and non-normal measurements

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal
In this study, a new process capability index is proposed. The new index is quantile-based, can be used in normal and non-normal measurements, and is a general form of the conventional Cpm.
