The Gut Microbiota Is Altered in Antidepressant‐Free Depressed Patients and Is Associated With Depression Severity

Journal of Neurochemistry, Volume 169, Issue 7, July 2025.
This study explores gut microbiota differences between antidepressant‐free patients currently experiencing a Major Depressive Episodes (MDE) and healthy controls. Using 16S rRNA sequencing, we found no differences in alpha‐diversity, while beta‐diversity revealed two distinct microbiota clusters.
