A Remedy for Crime? A Systematic Review on the Effects of Pharmacological ADHD Treatment on Criminal Recidivism and Rehabilitation in Inmates With ADHD

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 14, Issue 11, November 2024.
ADHD is more common among inmates compared with the general population. We perform a systematic review investigating if ADHD medication (methylphenidate) could reduce crime. We find limited evidence but ADHD medication may facilitate rehabilitation and thereby reduce crime. More research is needed.
