Revenue-enhancing Trade Liberalization in Developing Countries [PDF]

open access: yes
Recovering revenue loss due to the reduction in import tariffs is a major concern of many developing economies. In an economy with free entry, which affects the product market competition, we show that, even if there is no other tax reform such as a ...

Off‐Grid Solar Systems: An Experimental Work and Systematic Techno‐Economic Analysis

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
In the study mentioned above, experimental monitoring and economic evaluation of two off‐grid PV systems were conducted using a low‐cost data logger. The results suggest that basic DC systems are economically feasible compared to grid power, but that AC systems require further cost‐cutting to achieve financial viability.

Feasibility Study and Optimal Placement of Solar Power Plants Using Binary Genetic Algorithm

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study introduces an integrated optimization framework using a binary genetic algorithm (BGA) for optimal siting and sizing of two solar plants (865 and 739 kWp) in Karaj, Iran. The BGA outperformed conventional methods, achieving a 24.3% reduction in power losses and enhanced voltage stability.

Emissions Reductions and Economic Feasibility of China's Solar Thermal Power Industry After the Introduction of Chinese Certified Emission Reduction Policy

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT To promote the development of renewable energy, China re‐implemented the Chinese Certified Emission Reduction (CCER) policy in 2023. This study explores certificated CO2 and air pollutants (i.e., NOx, SO2 and particulate matter (PM)) emissions reductions from China's solar thermal power (STP) industry at national scale and conducts the ...

A Fuzzy Framework for Realized Volatility Prediction: Empirical Evidence From Equity Markets

open access: yesJournal of Forecasting, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study introduces a realized volatility fuzzy time series (RV‐FTS) model that applies a fuzzy c‐means clustering algorithm to estimate time‐varying c$$ c $$ latent volatility states and their corresponding membership degrees. These memberships are used to construct a fuzzified volatility estimate as a weighted average of cluster centroids.

Mergers and Acquisitions and Brexit: A Natural Experiment

open access: yesInternational Journal of Finance &Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We study the impact of Brexit uncertainty on one of the most important forms of corporate investment: mergers and acquisitions (M&As). Brexit provides us with an ideal natural experiment to explore the real effects of economic uncertainty and understand the underlying transmission mechanism. We document a significant decline in the number of M&
