Water resources and ecological conditions in the Tarim Basin
Science in China Series D: Earth Sciences, 2002Temporal sequential analyses of the hydrological observational data in the Tarim Basin over the last forty years revealed an annual increase of 2×10 7 m 3 in the water quantities at the three headstreams of the upper courses and an annual decrease of 3×10 7 m 3 in the water flow from Alaer, which is on the upper main stream.

Deep structure at northern margin of Tarim Basin
Science Bulletin, 2008In this paper, a 2D velocity structure of the crust and the upper mantle of the northern margin of the Tarim Basin (TB) has been obtained by ray tracing and theoretical seismogram calculation under the condition of 2D lateral inhomogeneous medium using the data of seismic wide angle reflection/refraction profile from Baicheng to Da Qaidam crossing the ...

Wind Erosion of Cropland in the Northwestern Tarim Basin
Soil Science Society of America Journal, 2016Core Ideas The Tarim Basin is a major source of windblown dust in Asia and China. No studies have previously documented wind erosion from cropland in Tarim Basin. Wind erosion was measured from an irrigated cotton field and red date orchard. Wind erosion from cropland is lower than from China's deserts.

The Cenozoic structural evolution of the northwestern Tarim Basin, China
2021<p>The vast Tarim basin is surrounded by Tian Shan Mountains in the north, West Kunlun Mountains in the southwest, and the Altyn Mountains in the southeast. The southwestern Tarim Basin developed within the foreland of the West Kunlun Mountains and cumulated up to 10 km of Cenozoic strata. Despite several decades of geological studies its

Quaternary Climatic Changes within the Tarim Basin
Geographical Review, 1932URING the autumn and winter of I930, acting under the instructions of Dr. Sven Hedin,1 the writer was engaged in a preliminary reconnaissance in the foothills of the Kunlun. The object of the survey was a search for Quaternary deposits, which might be expected to occur there, and the determination of the rate of recession of the late Quaternary ...

Marine oil source of the Yingmaili Oilfield in the Tarim Basin
Marine and Petroleum Geology, 2015Abstract Although a large amount of petroleum has been discovered in the Tarim Basin, the origin of the oils is still disputed. Yingmaili Oilfield was selected as a case study to further examine hydrocarbon generation and accumulation in the basin. Detailed geochemical studies were conducted to unravel the formation mechanisms.
