Tibio-tarsal joint biomechanics analisys through Finite Element Modeling: A static loading model of the human tibio-tarsal joint

2014 IEEE International Conference on Automation, Quality and Testing, Robotics, 2014
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the behavior of the human tibio-tarsal joint during static loading. The tibio-tarsal joint represents the transition area between the verticality of the calf and the foot. Along with the subtalar and transverse tarsal joints, it represents a crucial component of the ankle.

Osteochondritis dissecans of the tibio–tarsal joint in the dog

Journal of Small Animal Practice, 1978
ABSTRACTIn five dogs with osteochondritis dissecans in the hock joint the primary lesions were on the medial ridges of the trochlea of the tibial tarsal bones. Clinical and radiographic findings, and surgical techniques are described. Possible aetiological factors, and the results of treatment are discussed.

Intraarticular Treatment of Tarsal Degenerative Joint Disease in Cattle

Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 1975
SUMMARY Tarsal degenerative joint disease (djd) in 12 cattle was classified as primary or secondary, based on age, evidence of hereditary or congenital joint conformation defects, faulty hindlimb alignment, duration and type of usage joints were subjected to, and history or signs of repeated trauma. Three of the cattle had bilateral primary tarsal djd,

Surgical treatment of distal tarsal joint luxations in three horses

Veterinary and Comparative Orthopaedics and Traumatology, 2013
SummaryThe clinical signs, radiographic findings, surgical treatment, and outcome of three horses with luxation of the distal tarsal joints are reported. Two patients showed luxations of the tarsometatarsal joint whereas luxation of the proximal intertarsal joint was found in one case.

Anatomy of the Tarsal Canal and Sinus in Relation to the Subtalar Joint Capsule

Foot & ankle international, 2018
Background: Anatomical knowledge of the tarsal canal and sinus is still unclear owing to the complexity of the ligamentous structures within them, particularly the relationship with the capsules of the subtalar joints.

Computed tomography of the tarsal joint in clinically normal dogs

American Journal of Veterinary Research, 2001
Abstract Objective—To use computed tomography to provide a detailed description of tarsal joint structures in clinically normal dogs. Animals—6 clinically normal adult mixed-breed dogs weighing 25 to 35 kg and one 12-month-old Bullmastiff weighing 65 kg. Procedure—To perform computed tomography (CT) of both tarsal regions,

Osteochondritis Dissecans of the Tibio‐Tarsal Joint in the Horse

Equine Veterinary Journal, 1972
SUMMARY Twenty‐eight cases of osteochondritis dissecans affecting the tibio‐tarsal joint, mostly in young Standardbred trotters, are reported. The clinical and radiological features are described and the results of synovial fluid examinations recorded.

Effect of standing tarsal angle on joint kinematics and kinetics

Equine Veterinary Journal, 2006
Summary Reasons for performing study : The tarsal joint is a frequent site of lameness, but little objective information is available regarding the effects of tarsal conformation on joint movements or forces. Objective

A Case Report and Literature Review: Intraneural Ganglion Cyst Causing Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome.

Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery, 2019
Intraneural ganglion cysts are benign mucinous lesions that form within joints and enter adjacent nerves via an articular branch. Despite being morphologically characterized as benign, they can demonstrate considerable intrafascicular destruction and ...
