Cold hardiness of the broad mite Polyphagotarsonemus latus (Acari: Tarsonemidae)

Experimental and Applied Acarology, 2015
The cold hardiness of the broad mite, Polyphagotarsonemus latus, a key pest in Rhododendron simsii hybrid production in northwestern Europe, was investigated in the laboratory. Survival of eggs, larvae and female adults and reproduction capacity of female P. latus were evaluated following cold exposure at 7 °C.

Evaluating broad mite (Acari: Tarsonemidae) sampling techniques in blackberry

Journal of Economic Entomology
Abstract Broad mite, Polyphagotarsonemus latus (Banks) (Acari: Tarsonemidae), is an emerging pest impacting blackberry (Rubus subgenus Rubus Watson) production globally. Small plot research recommends applying miticides when mite density averages 5 mites per leaflet or one egg per leaflet. However, an optimal scouting method has not been

Host Selection by the Herbivorous Mite Polyphagotarsonemus latus (Acari: Tarsonemidae)

Journal of Insect Behavior, 2009
This study examined the host-selection ability of the broad mite Polyphagotarsonemus latus (Banks) (Acari: Tarsonemidae). To make long-distance-shifts from one host plant patch to another, broad mites largely depend on phoretic association with whiteflies. However, the host plants of whiteflies and broad mites are not necessarily the same.
