Exploring the Bioactive Potential of Pinus mugo Turra Essential Oil: Volatile Composition, Antioxidant, Antimicrobial, Antibiofilm and Insecticidal Activities

open access: yesFlavour and Fragrance Journal, Volume 40, Issue 2, Page 349-364, March 2025.
Pinus mugo EO chemical investigation and antimicrobial, antioxidant and insecticidal properties. ABSTRACT Pinus represents a potential source of valuable bioactive substances. In this study, the chemical composition and biological activity of essential oils extracted from Pinus mugo Turra needles (PMEO) were investigated.

Polyploidy confers better cold tolerance in Daphnia

open access: yesOikos, Volume 2025, Issue 3, March 2025.
Despite decades of studies on the differential distribution of polyploid organisms, the causes of this pattern have yet to be elucidated. This study aimed to explore some of the possible physiological mechanisms explaining the differential northern distribution of polyploid clones of Daphnia pulex compared to the one of the diploid parental species ...

Fatricum provenance of the Rhaetian deposits in the "Nad Moreną" section (Przysłop Miętusi area) : a correction of the Hronicum stratigraphy in the Tatra Mts. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The "Nad Moreną" section (Triassic–Jurassic boundary interval) in the Tatra Mts. was previously ascribed to the Choč Nappe (Hronicum domain) or to the Krížna Nappe (Fatricum domain).

Deer Browsing Increases Stem Slenderness and Crown Irregularity and Modifies the Effects of Light Gradients on Architecture of Forest Tree Saplings

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 1, January 2025.
Ungulate browsing impacts both vertical and lateral growth of saplings, with effects varying by browsing intensity (BI), light availability, and sapling height class. BI increased crown irregularity (CI) and altered height‐diameter ratio (H/D), while light influenced crown slenderness (CL/CW) and mitigated CI in shorter saplings.

Hypsometric factors for differences in chemical composition of Tatra National Park spring waters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The aim of this study was to verify a hypothesis about the differences in chemical composition of spring waters as determined by hypsometric factors (relief) in the Tatra Mountains.

Differentiation of flea communities of small mammals in selected habitats in the Eastern Tatra Mts

open access: yesFolia Oecologica, 2019
Research into small mammals and their ectoparasites was carried out in the Belianske Tatras during 2010–14, evaluating flea communities found on small mammals on the basis of species richness, abundance and level of infestation.

Analysis of the variability of nine natural Anthyllis vulneraria s. l. populations. Part II. Biometry of flowers

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2015
Variation of 1l vegetative traits has been studied in 9 natural populations of Anthyllis vulneraria. The analysis was performed in the field and then, for the second time, on samples of these populations grown in experimental garden in similar conditions.

Vector algebra for Steep Slope Model analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Geographic Information Systems offer many algorithms that allow analysis of digital elevation models. They work with both GRID and TIN data, but they are limited to 2.5D models, where one planar (X,Y) position refers to only one vertical (Z) value.
