Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Sensitivities of one-prong tau branching fractions to tau neutrino mass, mixing, and anomalous charged current couplings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We analyse the sensitivities of exclusive one-prong tau branching fractions to: the tau neutrino mass; its mixing with a fourth generation neutrino; the weak charged current magnetic and electric dipole moments of the tau; and the Michel parameter η ...

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

X-ray screening of donated wild game is insufficient to protect children from lead exposure

open access: yesDiscover Food
Worldwide hunters distribute game meat as a gesture of community bonding and as an essential nutritional resource for those facing food insecurity, especially among children and adolescents.

About the Assessment of Heat Flux and Skin Friction of the DLR TAU-code for Turbulent Supersonic Flows

open access: yes, 2007
The correct prediction of skin friction and surface heat flux by CFD tools is an important prerequisite for the design of hypersonic flight vehicles. Results of a test campaign of a flow past a flat plate configuration with an impinging oblique shock ...

Summary of the Tau 2016 Workshop

open access: yes, 2017
The main topics discussed at the Tau 2016 Workshop are briefly summarized. A large number of reports were given on low-energy QCD studies, on the hadronic g−2 contribution, and on neutrino Physics.

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

MODELOS CONTINGENTES DE CONOCIMIENTO PARA LA TOMA DE DECISIÓN EN MEDIO AMBIENTE. DESARROLLOS EN ECONOMÍA ECOLÓGICA/ECOSISTÉMICA

open access: yesTendencias, 2013
La toma de decisión en materia de medio ambiente requiere de un conocimiento estructurado de la materia sustantiva sobre la que actúa. Básicamente requiere de un modelo comprensivo de las relaciones entre el medio ambiente y el hombre, en sus diversas y ...

Deletion of murine tau gene increases tau aggregation in a human mutant tau transgenic mouse model.

open access: yes, 2010
We have reported previously a tau transgenic mouse model (Tg30tau) overexpressing human 4R1N double-mutant tau (P301S and G272V) and that develops AD (Alzheimer's disease)-like NFTs (neurofibrillary tangles) in an age-dependent manner.

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.
