Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.

Chiral Perturbation Theory for $\tau \to \rho \pi\nu_\tau$, $\tau \to K^* \pi \nu_\tau$, and $\tau \to \omega \pi \nu_\tau$

open access: yes, 1995
We use heavy vector meson $SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R$ chiral perturbation theory to predict differential decay distributions for $\tau \rightarrow \rho \pi \nu_\tau$ and $\tau \rightarrow K^* \pi \nu_\tau$ in the kinematic region where $p_V \cdot p_\pi/m_V$ (here $V = \rho$ or $K^*$) is much smaller than the chiral symmetry breaking scale. Using the large

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

Tau Physics at SuperB

open access: yes, 2011
The BABAR and Belle B-factories, which ended data-taking in the recent years, have analysed large samples of tau pairs produced in e(+)e(-) annihilations at and around the gamma(4S) peak to test the Standard Model and to search for signs of New Physics ...

Hot‐Film and Calorimetric Methods With Transient Heating for Measurement of High Biofluid Flow Rate

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Accurate measurement of biofluid flow rate is vital for clinical diagnostics. We propose a transient heating strategy using short thermal pulses and peak temperature tracking to enhance the flow sensitivity of the hot‐Film and calorimetric methods. Simulations show how optimal heating time maximizes sensitivity across flow rates.

Slight Truncation Changes in Iron Oxide Nanocubes Strongly Affect Their Magnetic Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Subtle variations in nanoparticle morphology can lead to significant changes in functional properties. An automated shape‐fitting method captures minor differences in corner truncation between iron oxide nanocubes of similar sizes synthesized under identical conditions, revealing pronounced disparities in their magnetic and hyperthermia behavior ...

IN4MER Biomaterial Ink: A Phosphorescent Biosensing Biomaterial Ink for Multiple Analytes (Glucose, Lactate, Oxygen) Measurements and Temperature Sensing Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multianalyte, real‐time monitoring of bioprinted scaffolds remains challenging. Phosphorescence‐lifetime–based, optically responsive microparticles are embedded in diverse printable hydrogels (κ‐carrageenan, GelMA, PEGDA) to form biomaterial inks that report oxygen, glucose, lactate, and temperature.
