Scalable and Integrated Photocatalytic Reactor Systems for Solar‐to‐Fuel Production: Photoredox and Photoreforming Processes

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Solar fuels and other value‐added chemicals derived from light‐driven reactions are highly desirable. Although advanced photoactive materials have been reported, demonstrations of their feasibility in large‐scale production are needed. Hence, strategies and recent efforts in scaling up photocatalytic reactors and integrating them into comprehensive ...

Automation and taxation

open access: yesOxford Economic Papers
Abstract Do automation-induced changes in labour and capital income undermine public revenues? Decomposing taxes by source (labour, capital, sales), we analyse the impact of automation on tax revenues and the structure of taxation in nineteen EU countries during 1995–2016.

Cost‐Effective and Scalable Approach for the Separation and Direct Cathode Recovery from End‐of‐Life Li‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
The scalable recycling process described herein presents an opportunity for profitability by separating the battery materials into high‐purity streams with reduced contamination. In this environmentally friendly approach, the active materials are kept attached to the foils during separation.

Democracy and taxation

open access: yesEconomics, 2018
Abstract In this paper, the author argues that democracies increase tax revenues, based on the hypothesis that democracies increase direct and indirect taxes due to increased taxpayers’ compliance, diffusion of taxes between democracies and because voters in poor democracies are in favour of import taxes. The author tests this hypothesis

Toward Complete CO2 Electroconversion: Status, Challenges, and Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Electrocatalytic CO2 reduction and CO2 batteries face challenges in achieving complete CO2 conversion with high conversion rates and Faradaic efficiency simultaneously. Existing systems compromise one for the other with incomplete CO2 conversion and inefficiencies, hindering practical applications. This perspective highlights state‐of‐the‐art progress,

An equilibrium-conserving taxation scheme for income from capital [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Under conditions of market equilibrium, the distribution of capital income follows a Pareto power law, with an exponent that characterizes the given equilibrium. Here, a simple taxation scheme is proposed such that the post-tax capital income distribution remains an equilibrium distribution, albeit with a different exponent.
