Amyloidogenic Peptide Fragments Designed From Bacterial Collagen‐like Proteins Form Hydrogel

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study identified amyloidogenic sequence motifs in bacterial collagen‐like proteins and exploited these to design peptides that self‐assemble into β‐sheet fibers and form hydrogels. One hydrogel supported healthy fibroblast growth, showing promise for biocompatible materials. Our work demonstrates that bacterial sequences can be harnessed to create

Water striders, the genus Cylindrostethus Mayr (Insecta: Heteroptera: Gerridae) from India with a new record

open access: yesJournal of Threatened Taxa, 2018
The genus Cylindrostethus Mayr, 1865 from India is studied.  Prior to this study C. productus (Spinola, 1837) and C. scrutator (Kirkaldy, 1899) of Cylindrostethus were known from India.  The record of C. scrutator (Kirkaldy, 1899) from India is doubtful.

Efficacy and Safety Assessment of 5‐Fluorouracil, Irinotecan and Oxaliplatin‐Loaded Implants in Mouse and Pig Models for Pancreatic Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A novel FIRINOX‐loaded implant demonstrates controlled drug release, and potent therapeutic efficacy in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma mouse models with safety confirmed in a large‐animal pre‐clinical model. This innovative drug delivery platform offers a promising new treatment approach for non‐resectable, treatment‐resistant pancreatic cancer ...

Identity of Sphaerotheca pluvialis (Jerdon, 1853) and other available names among the burrowing frogs (Anura: Dicroglossidae) of South Asia

open access: yesJournal of Threatened Taxa, 2017
Species diversity of South Asian burrowing frogs within the genus Sphaerotheca is still obscure because of lack of taxonomic review.  There are taxonomic issues within the genus Sphaerotheca with several names being synonymized to S. breviceps and names,

NIR‐Activated Ag2S Quantum Dots for Efficient Broad‐Spectrum Antibacterial and Biofilm Disruption

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel non‐antibiotic strategy leveraging NIR‐activated Ag2S QDs for synergistic PTT/PDT. The platform degrades the protective extracellular matrix via localized hyperthermia, facilitating deep penetration and ROS‐induced oxidative damage.

Optical Diversity and Nanostructural Organization in the Colored Scales of Sternotomis

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Vivid colors in Sternotomis beetles originate from nanoscale photonic architectures embedded within individual scales. Here, we provide a comparative optical and structural analysis of 57 scale types that reveal how ordered, quasi‐ordered, and disordered 3D networks tune color, saturation, and angular response.

Taxonomic identification using geometric morphometric approach and limited data: an example using the upper molars of two sympatric species of Calomys (Cricetidae: Rodentia)

open access: yesZoologia (Curitiba), 2017
The taxonomic identification of micromammals might be complicated when the study material is fragmented, as it is the case with pellets and fossil material.

Scalable Task Planning via Large Language Models and Structured World Representations

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work efficiently combines graph‐based world representations with the commonsense knowledge in Large Language Models to enhance planning techniques for the large‐scale environments that modern robots will need to face. Planning methods often struggle with computational intractability when solving task‐level problems in large‐scale environments ...
